At the heart of this is the fact that an older man used his status and power to have an affair with a much younger person, and when it went badly, it was the young guy that paid the price. Now the older man is playing the victim because his actions have caught up with him.

@@Cal-c-u-later Exactly. Phillip first met the boy in school, got him his first job in the industry and then had a physical relationship with him. Any time an adult in a position of fame or power decides to engage in ANY kind of relationship with a minor, it's super sus. You have absolutely nothing in common with a literal child. If you want to be a mentor, there are programs for that that at least have some kind of oversight. You can use your platform to share the information. You do not need to be speaking privately with a child. It's always grooming, always. Can we stop being gross, PLEASE?

As a UK citizen, with some friends in the business, this whole thing goes much deeper…he actually met the young man when he was around 10/11 yrs old at the time. As for the “no whiff of impropriety”…this is debatable, and the subject of much speculation here in the UK. If certain sources, and message interactions are to be believed, this young man is one of a number. As for nobody at ITV being aware of the relationship, it was an open ‘secret’, and PS certainly met up with him way more than 6/7 times…the young man in question (MM), believed he was in a genuine, loving relationship with PS. It’s even EXTREMELY weird that PS is paying for the young man’s legal team, to me this seems like further manipulation of the young man.

I agree. He's not the victim he plays. And I find it doubly worrying because there were posts about him back in 2012 when the Savile crimes were being revealed. Posters on mumsnet were disturbed by how PS treated Savile's victims. One said PS remarked about "how sorry he felt for JS's family to the VICTIMS of JS. fgs, basically saying that he knew the layout of the dressing rooms at the BBC, and he can't imagine that happening and no-one seeing... 'But that's what television and radio was like in those days.' " Another poster said, "He asked each woman at least twice why she hadn't reported it. And then again this morning, making out that the culture was different, as if that excuses it. I'd love someone to ask him what he heard about Jimmy, cos I'm a housewife from Glasgow and I knew the rumours years ago so don't believe this is news to him."

I can't relate to that and I'm sorry for not considering it in my comment. Thank you for pointing it out. I think I disregarded it because of the age of the boy he hired, that he's deflected the actual age they met at, but it is wrong of me to be assuming he's wrong. But, despite the disappointing history, I find it bad that he got to know this child (11 y/o), for such a long time, and then started a sexual relationship with him as soon as possible after claiming to be a 'role model'. This is not what an adult role model would do, especially when he's seen him grow from a child into a man. I would find it impossible to do such a thing with someone I was a mentor to and knew him as a child almost all the time I'd known him. He should have guided him or... anything but what happened. It was his position that made it bad. That boy would have maybe confused a mentor with love. Him lying his whole life is sad, but it also shows he will be good at it. I hope the boy can say something about it himself eventually

As a Brit, this is very interesting (and concerning) to see how the media must be presenting this so you. Here’s some information from the end of a Brit. (For legal reasons, I’ll say this is all alleged) OKAY. SO… Philip met the victim when he was ELEVEN. The victim was a child actor in multiple childrens programmes on the childrens BBC (CBBC) and was already ‘in TV’ but it was known to those around him in ITV that he was struggling with money. Philip paid for the victim to be driven to and from his HOME multiple times. Apparently very very regularly. This was when the victim had already been employed by ITV, and ITV supposedly knew that this was happening, as they would’ve had to sign off on payments. Philip actively used his money to benefit the victim, his own personal money, which is odd. He speaks multiple times about professionalism, but that’s not professional, neither was the ‘meal’ or the attitude he has towards other people working lower than him on the network he worked at. They moved the victim to a different programme on itv when more reports came in, from this morning, to loose women, where he was supposedly looked out for more, but I fear that separation may have just made the way Philip was him, as more lustful. Many people have spoken out, some anonymously (for fear of the repercussions) to explain he was “narcissistic” and explained how he was mean to the people around him and didn’t care to even speak to the people working for him. It is well known in the UK at this point that ITV is SKETCHY. They’ve had post show su*cides, and now theyre saying that they did a “thorough investigation” into these “rumours” (which other people had spoken up about and been told that they’re harmful rumours and to stop spreading them) They knew about the worry surrounding this young vulnerable person and this rich older man arguably one the most powerful public positions in television. Philip is NOT married. He ended his relationship with his ex wife and came out on the programme ‘this morning’ (which he is the host of) supposedly around the time that the predatory accusations were brought up internally again. Supposedly for fear of their presenter looking like a cheat, they were more inclined to encourage him coming out on the telly, and could then pass of the predatory behaviour as “legal” … Philip pays THIRTY THOUSAND A MONTH basically for negative media suppression. He has a “super injunction” against the media, basically so that negative press about him isn’t allowed to be shared. It’s very deep and probably very deep in their company (itv) with an environment of suppressing and dismissing concerns. There is so much more to this, and the power dynamic is off the scale. A child to young man, most likely unsure of his sexuality, processing as a person, being put in a position of comfort by an old rich man who is gay. Gay≠predatory. But in this case, it’s a very concerning thing to see, considering he admits to an intimate relationship, knowing we know he met him as a young child, and was in a position of power over him. Even if it was “legal” in the sense of age, (I don’t believe it is) the power dynamic is still terrifying. The victim seeker approval and comfort and saw that in a man who has what he didn’t: money, comfortability, a stable career, and I dread to think on how many levels, that comfortability was taken advantage of. His statements are very orchestrated. It’s all written out, itv is planning it all with his former co-host too. It’s so much deeper than this video makes it seem. I’m worried for the victim, who is a wonderful actor, and I watched growing up, as I fear he will never be seen as his work, and only as the person who was groomed by Philip. He deserves so much better, and I fear for him as he realises the extent of the long situation he was in, with someone he looked up to, using him. He was (and is) young and vulnerable, and he is still somewhat controlled by Philips money, with the lawyers. I dread to think about the victims career after this. I wish him all the best. And I’m (unfortunately) confident that because of Philips money and connections, no real justice will be served. The dismissal in “be kind to everyone” after a vunerable person has been taken advantage of is so uncomfortable yet not surprising. I hope this makes the situation more clear. It’s so uncomfortable to watch unfold.

“Never been a hint of that in my career” is not the same as “I never did that.” Trying to rely on a reputation that is in tatters because he has nothing else is what it feels like. Also “something happened” in the dressing room? It’s like when people say “the gun just went off.” Nobody ever pulls the trigger. As a professional who had time to prepare and who chose to give this interview, you’d think he’d be better at telling his own story if it were indeed innocent.

Grooming is more than just pursuing an interest with a minor. It's a set delicate and subtle behaviors to get the minor to stop listening to their inner guidance and separate them from the guidance of their support system to then be able to pursue them. If you're interested in how that happens, you should probably look up the red flags and behaviors of grooming. It's a specific word for a specific set of actions, and I really hate when it's misused. There's also that really subtle difference between mentoring and grooming that the LGBT community is having issues with since the homophobes want to use the term to fear monger.

His brother was also just sentenced to 12 years in prison so he probably is grieving the loss as he also apparently disowned him. Put these together with the loss of his job and being caught out add to that a person who enjoys talking about himself more than anything and this interview is the result 🙄 Hopefully the guy will have the courage to speak out, make a ton of money himself and get him sent down to be with his brother!

Sadly this sort of behaviour is almost endemic in the entertainment industry & stage schools don't seem to have the same safeguarding measure of the children to whom access is given as regular schools. It is clear that Phillip has made many enemies over the years who are picking at his remains now but I am also suspicious of them because there's an element of covering their own backs and claiming plausible deniability where one doesn't exist by their sheer proximity to him and his antics.

He is pampered, "loved by everyone" (see, Schofield had no choice but fall for him), given advanced career choice upon advanced career choice in a very short time, all supported heavily by Schofield, and that is "just his normal way" of treating his fans? Come on! The thing is, this particular "fan" was smart enough to get something out of this "special treatment" that would eventually have released him from the grip Schofield had on him. We've now got to a stage (and this REALLY frightens me) that we can't even call out this disgusting behaviour because now we've got to take the groomers' mental health into consideration. We now tolerate ANYTHING because if you question it you're racist, you're homophobic, you're transphobic, you'll cause someone to repeat Caroline Flack. He launch unrelenting attacks on her using his platform and now he wants empathy??? Please stop preaching to us about kindness. Kindness is not one sided or biased or subjective. It should be accorded to all who deserve it. What he did is egregious. The boy was a minor when he befriended him even though the relationship was not consummated until he was of age. Allegedly. It’s wrong end of. How many more boys has he had inappropriate contact with? He deserves an Oscar for this performance. Of course he’s manipulating those he can manipulate. Who is the innocent person here, him? What about the boy involved? Who is fighting for him? Playing the victim is despicable. We are letting our boys down. when they went out 'for a bite too eat whilst waiting for him to be picked up' you can see in that video they're drinking wine as well, hardly just waiting for a lift. i honestly think phillip loved the power he had, how he was seen by this teenager who had hopes and dreams of being in the tv industry and used his power to get what he wanted sexually. i'm not saying he did this while he was underage but still 18, 19 is so young. if he wasn't working with him, i don't think it would be as big a story, once you're 18 you can make those decisions but still, at phillips age you'd think he would know it's wrong to abuse his power in the telly world and honestly i just find it gross that at his ripe old age he would find someone that young attractive anyway, i'm 27 and the thought of a 18, 19, 20 year old is just far too young they're still kids really. i think you're right i do think this was grooming but whether it was intentional or not we'll never really know. also, imagine in your own life if you knew a kid at 15, would u really fancy them as soon as they got a bit older, just plain creepy.

Yet he never said he gets thousands of requests from young people to help them get work experience. How many does he help every year?? If he does wouldn't he have made sure he was never alone with a young person for everyones safety. Why did he take such a personal interest in this teenager/young man? Sounds like he was waiting for him to become legal (maybe because of what was happening with his brother) Meanwhile M was falling in love and thought he was in a relationship... I love Observe and the work that Logan does, but does anyone else feel that Logan's read of PS in this video was somewhat biased and sympathetic to PS, even before the analysis of the interview took place? From the very beginning, when Logan goes over the back-story, much of what is said is about PS's hardships suffered as a result of this, including that it's disheartening to watch this happen to him given what a kind presence he's been in the world. Throughout the interview, I noted multiple verbal and non-verbal spikes that I would have expected Logan to jump on, but instead, they got glossed over or fairly minimized. Again, I love Logan and Observe, but this video has got me somewhat questioning his bias and, therefore, his credibility in this particular video. Anyone else feel this way? Am I crazy?

I am glad I am not the only one thinking this. I have no desire to watch any further videos he posts concerning this as he is either covering for Schofield or hasn't done his homework on Schofield thoroughly enough.

It's equally disappointing to see thousands of people simply call for this guy's head, without fully knowing the facts. Without proof, or evidence, or statements from the ''victim'' in question, there really is no ground for assuming the worst. As inappropriate as a lot of the current facts might seem, nothing has been proven to be illegal yet. And therefore, it's refreshing to see a take on this that isn't automatically biased with the witch hunt mentality that governs the internet these days. I'm ALL for calling out predators and having them locked up, but legal decisions can't be made on assumptions and bias.
