Interesting point. Pederson wanted to try that play the week before against Minnesota when the Eagles were crushing them in the NFC Championship Game. Foles told him "no" and that they may need it at a later time. You didn't need to run a trick play with a huge lead against Minnesota, so they saved it for the Patriots.

The pause by Pederson was because it wasn't on his play sheet that day and Pederson had told referee Gene Steratore prior to the game that he planned on no trick plays being run. Steratore asked him post game why he told him no trick plays. I didn't call the play. Nick did.

No second guesses, as if they run it all the time. Makes you realize how much practice and preparation goes into it all.
@go3flea Жыл бұрын
This is what Doug didn’t get enough credit for. He may have not made the call but he is the reason it went off silky smooth. Pederson not only kept the play in the book but actually made it a priority to PRACTICE it and other rare plays like Hail Marys over and over. Normally these kinds of plays only see light _maybe_ once a season so teams rarely ever practice them but Pederson made them practice it to perfection.

Illegal formation is a judgement call and if the line judge clears him its 100% legal. You don't see the line judge approve but the fact that Alshon does not move afterwards tells you all you need to know. You normally get 1-1 1/2 yards off the ball to be considered on the LOS. Patriots #70 was the only player who recognized the play before the pass was made. #53 was the only player in the assignment who could have broken up the play. Instead he runs into #70 trying to attack the run and is out of position to defend the pass. I think 31 fanbases smiled watching this touchdown. Enjoy this memory forever Eagles fans, this is football history.

Underrated player in this play....the person taking the direct snap, Im guessing a RB, no idea who he is as im a browns fan. But he had to keep his hands down so as to no make it look like he was the true QB in this play. Doing that in the superbowl in shotgun formation on 4th down at the goal line has to be incredibly terrifying. But he put his hands up at just the right moment to catch the snap and make the plan. Just Beautiful

Because crybaby ass Wentz bitched because all the plyers loved him and Carson wasn't the man in anyone's eyes. He feels nick stole his oneand only chance to be a legend and didn't want him on the team anymore. Per former eagles players and several reports.

What did they say? btw i dont know why this play is superiorly amazing i want to know why it is. i've never watched football :v
@johngonzalez42986 жыл бұрын
@@XenanKayriRedFrost This was during the Super Bowl back in February of 2018 and this was a trick play that ended up benefiting the Eagles which lead them to win the Super Bowl. On the other hand, the Patriots tried a similar play but failed when Tom Brady couldn't catch the ball when they were on 4th down in the previous possession. The Patriots fans were questioning if the Philly Philly play was legal. The Patriots are notorious for cheating but they complained that there wasn't enough players on the line of scrimmage for the Eagles team when the play was being used during the game. Some analysts say they were lined up and others say they were not lined up. In the end, the Eagles still won the Super Bowl. Lastly, I'll add that Tom Brady never shakes the hands of the winning Quarterback when he loses in the Super Bowl.

Where else do you have a team that sent packing the guy that almost single handedly won them their first Super Bowl, but that team still has a statue of that player asking his coach to approve his play call. A play that this coach almost completely forgot about. Philly will never forget Nick Foles...............EVER !!!!!!!!!
