Money gets its value by exchange and the number represents the amount of value of the exchange. In physical form the number of value is 'printed' onto and in digital form it is just a number (in a database, in a computer). That's why bankers prefer the digital version of 'money' because it is just a number and don't need a physical representation. It is easy for bankers to create value (for themselfs) just by providing debt loans. When you take a loan at a bank, YOU create debt and value for the bank without the need for banknotes, it is digital money entirely. In fact, the money does not exist in physical form at all, just a number in a computer. This is called "money creation". A dirty trick that bankers still use these days, creating value, profits, money without any needs, just a fancy computer, a database and a mouse click. Digital money is actually nothing, a number that represents 'air' however because there is (or maybe was in the future) physical money, these numbers in a computer have the same value thanks to existence of physical money and thus have the same currency. Physical money retains its value through the same value in an amount of gold, digital money don't have a return, the bankers (and you) determine the value of it by using it like physical money. If bankers change the currency or remove it, it become totally worthless, the reason why it is dangerous (commercial) bankers have full control. Physical money is something you can own however digital money you can't.
