I love that he never talked down to her. He always considered what she was saying and answered genuinely. Seems like a very sweet person. Also “I’d kill myself if I couldn’t have crisps “ was amazing.

He's Robert Peston, he works for ITV, it's highly unlikely he didn't know who she is. As do most others. They're just told to go with it.

All the people intervewed in the shows are told before hand that it's a mockumentary and ask them to take the questions as serious as possible. They just don't know what the actual questions are gonna be, that's why most of them break half way through and have to do a retake.

I absolutely adore Philomena Cunk. I know, she's a comedian playing a character. That said, the way she's able to ask such ridiculous questions while keeping a straight face is pure gold. 😂👍

The thing is a lot of the time her questions are genuinely good. They’re phrased in a funny way, but the answers she ends up getting are legitimately good answers that I don’t think you could have otherwise gotten.
