I dont understand it. 1st what do you mean by "yourself" You have the I and the myself. And the myself is beeing created by everything around you what you then on terms identify with the I or me. So to be or not to be. Is not to be yourself by not making it personal emotional identification. When the sun goes down you dont want it to go down because you identify good emotions on it just going down. If you see it a it will go down you dont identify but really can see the beauty of it. So stop trying to be. Just observe and investigate without beeing de yourself only then I think you can really control the balance

@Grimenoughtomaketherobotcry3 жыл бұрын
"Self-discipline" is a term one must be very careful about. If it is an imposed "value" from our past, it can be highly destructive, turning life into a race on a hamster wheel, a race we can only lose. It can also carry with it much shame from our past, as, should we fail at something, it must be because we were not sufficiently self-disciplined. It can then become a rationale for seeking solace in self-destructive behaviour, the very opposite of self-disciplined behaviour. I think the focus needs to be on a truly healthy and positive sense of self-love. With that, self-discipline can become a powerful tool for helping us to achieve what we decide we want for ourselves, to become the better person we need to be.

@scottperry73114 жыл бұрын
A lot of it has to do with the fact that if you succeed then they think it reflects poorly on them. They would have to question who they are and what they are doing, they would also feel that others would see them as failures, so its easier to pull or nock you down than to face themselves and their choices, it says more about them than you. Its funny because on other hand if they do better than you I'm sure they are not trying to pull you up, instead they use their better position to feel superior to you, to boost their ego. This is because inside they have little or no self worth, only the worth of position, and again it says more about them than you. The best thing is to get away from those people, they are in constant unnecessary competition with you and will work to undermine and sabotage your accomplishments, which will result in mostly negative results. When you have found yourself and are confident in yourself, you will not look to pull others down or be more successful than others to have self worth. You will be glad for your friends who do better, and help pull up your friends who are not doing well, and they would do the same for you. In this kind of relationship with the people around you it would lift you all up, it would be a group of people you would cherish and who would cherish you the same, and in that you would be a very lucky person indeed.

It's unfortunately the pandemic of Jealousy and envy. I've only realized in the past 2 years how often I have been the unknowing victim of people's Jealousy. Thinking back to people's reactions and words and lack of enc or celebration regarding things I was excited about or simply even contemplating, I realize that this was their own jealousy at play but because I wasn't aware of it at the time, I let their behaviour get to me and diminish my own celebrations or not even try to go bigger and believe in myself to reach the huge untapped potential I know I have. It's actually really insidious and still makes me very sad that I allowed them to impact me this way. Even sadder it's often the people closest to you who do it. I find strangers or casual acquaintances are far more encouraging so now I just share with them, ie mainly strangers on the internet, rather than people I know. This is a wise, clever, people-friendly explanation of the philosophy of Identity. What we need is a useful procedure for taking stock of one's identity; a way for relating that to self-esteem; a metric for self-assessing one's self esteem; and a procedure for strategically planning how to build on identity strengths, heal identity wounds and fill the lacunae; then a method to transform identity and self esteem needs into new strengths. That whole process needs to be behaviorally specific and replicable... I believe that's what we need next. -Doug Pratt, Atlanta, Georgia, USA

"He who has a WHY to live for can bear almost any HOW".The "WHY" is one's deepest and therefore TRUEST DESIRE, not the common and often false desires. To recognize this "WHY" requires a deep self-knowledge. As for the "HOW" or the WAY, it consists of all that which is helpful to fulfill one's "WHY" and this includes our social environment. Unfortunately, most of the time the social environment is driven by the false desires and doesn't like those who dare to follow their own desire. So, the greatest quality required, which cannot be spared in order to own oneself is unquestionably the quality of COURAGE. Thank you for this excellent video on Nietzsche philosophy.
