Different types of disgust,if emotions are physiological reactions and the different types of disgust have different physiological reactions then what justifies that they're different types of disgust?

How would you argue against James' individuation and intentionality problems?

I don't understand last objection. James Lange theory doesn't claim that bodily feelings are emotions - emotion is perception of them. and why can't we say that emotions aren't intentional? I would say that brute feeling doesn't have any intentionality. as it is many times. We can feel something for no reason for example sadness. But if we feel exactly the same feeling after someone dies then we say that this emotion is about something. But emotion in itself hasn't changed. intentionality is only meaning we give to emotion - the supposed cause of them. so for me this objection is very weak. I am greatful for this video because I think this theory is correct. I can see it in myself. lately I was wondering about emotions because I realised that I don't feel anything but bodily feelings which I refused to call emotions because I thought there is more to it. But there isn't. What's more is our interpretation.

+jadwiga0700 You're right, the JL theory claims that emotions are feelings/perceptions of bodily states, not the bodily states themselves, so perhaps I was a bit sloppy there. But the important point of the objection is that a feeling of a bodily state doesn't seem to be about anything except the bodily state itself - consider the feeling of an itch or the feeling of a racing heart. There are cases where we experience emotions that have no intentionality. But many emotions do seem to be intentional. I'm afraid of the snake; my fear is directed towards the snake. I suppose you could just bite the bullet and insist that emotions are never intentional, but that strikes me as fairly implausible. I'd say that intentionality is a central feature of our emotions. I agree that the JL theory is very attractive though (I'm not sure I accept it, but I definitely incline towards it at the moment).

+Kane B well consider following thought experiment. you see a snake and then you feel fear. You then say you are afraid of snake. But then imagine you are in your home completely safe and feel exactly the same thing. You feel the same fear. Now you conclude this emotion is devoid of intentionality. but emotion hasn't changed. So intentionality cannot be in emotion itself but it's our interpretation if why our emotion occurred. unless of course it's impossible to feel the same fear in these two circumstances but I don't see why.
