Amazing that the Clio was written off for that amount of damage but a good buy for you. Getting the parts in the body colour was a real stroke of luck - interesting that both Clio's had come from the same dealer - Arnold Clark although they are a massive national company. I think its a pity that you no longer give us any idea of costs - what you paid for the car, parts cost and what you hope to sell it for. A lot of the salvage rebuilders do that and its one of the most interesting parts!

While I don't really know anything about cars, I truly have enjoyed your videos. It must have been some 🇬🇧 motoring show that made the algorithm to suggest your channel two years ago. Keep up the good work! 😊 I would like to see a Toyota at some point. Greetings from ❄️ wintery and 🥶 cold (-19°C) 🇫🇮 Finland

Its a shame you didnt show how you repaired the bend in the body work. More close ups and measurements of the bumper bar would've been great.

Phil, you need to get a 5-8kw garage diesel parking heater like a Vevor one. Only cost around £100 and run on diesel fumes mate. 1 litre of red diesel or heating oil lasts around 2-3 hours.

I am curious to where you manage to source these vehicles from? Auction's? Salvage websites? if so which one's? I'm on the look out for a car to fixup and run and i would enjoy also being able to strip the cars down and learn more about internal combustion engines too.

Not that great on fuel around town, low 30s for me that’s driving steady in eco mode & the later model (100ps) will get into 50 mpg on motorway at below 70 mph.

As others have said, totally bonkers that cars with such minor damage are being written off these days. It's costing all of us a fortune in increased insurance costs. How can fitting a new rear panel, bumper and tailgate be an uneconomical repair. My Dacia has the same engine, it's a great little thing to drive, very responsive.
@tashaw93712 жыл бұрын
On my 3 cylinder Peugeot the stop start shows as eco so eco button could be the stop start on/off

Salvage for such little damage? Written off because of Renault's exorbitant spare parts prices?
@alancampbell10082 жыл бұрын
Probably Cat S as the rear would be counted as structural. They wouldn't be allowed to tap it out like Phil did. That insurance repair would be new tailgate, bumper, back panel (which would need spot welds drilled out then new panel welded in) and all associated parts like the bumper mounts then a respray. Not a lot of damage for a private individual to repair but a costly shunt for an insurance company.
@retrogeezer2 жыл бұрын
@@alancampbell1008 Back in the 80's and 90's when I worked in a bodyshop we were doing that kind of repair all day, every day. It's bonkers cars are written off for it these days and costing us all a fortune in insurance premiums.

Not just French cars transits and transit custom rear doors buckle if you push then closed on the edges rather than use the handle. Next time you see one look 3/4 way up the door in the middle where the doors meet nearly everyone is buckled
