Arguably one of the best bands to never make it. This EP, had it been a full length album and released on a major label, would easily have competed with everyone else and fit right in with bands like Skid Row, Whitesnake, or Steelheart in 1989/1990. Roy Z SHREDS and Rob Rock's golden throat competes with the best of em! With a little money behind better production, this would have been a huge hit on MTV. Warrior and I Believe in Love would have been everywhere as singles.
@PhilTougas4 жыл бұрын
I agree with you on all your points, except maybe about the time period. I think had this been released a few years before, the impact would've been even bigger as things were already turning sour in 1990 for this genre : ( But yeah, the catchiness of these songs is unmatched. Rock's vocals are legendary, man. No one like him.
@erteltsa4 жыл бұрын
@@PhilTougas Nah it would have been one of the last great 80s rock albums. Even in 1990 you had Warrant, Slaughter, Skid Row, Winger, Firehouse, Steelheart etc all releasing platinum albums. 91 or 92 would have seen it go nowhere but 1990 it would have made it. The 2nd album (1992/93) would have tanked because of grunge. Look at Steelheart. Huge in 89/90 and the 2nd album was MIA. Same track IMO.

I was there. Atco chimed in with a tour budget (Europe) and grunge was taking over and I believe Atco let them go just after someone just released some grunge album. I think every label dropped all hair bands at that time. Collateral damage. They were ready (Rob told me to get my passport). Ya bad timing!!!

They used to play locally where I live at a place called the infinity. I was too young to get into bars so my friends older brother brought back a cassette they were selling at the show. I was lucky enough to meet Rob Rock when he made an appearance with Jimmy Bell at a bar in Connecticut playing holy diver. It is on KZbin.🤘

I was there that night. After the place closed Roy and I got trashed on “Laser beams and Purple penis’” then we jammed some Yngwie, broke down and got back to Westfield like 6am, poor Roy, was not well for a day or so!!! Ya we were buds, I miss Roy, Rob and even Judy. Funny I just found pictures from the gig at goodnight Hartford. I was BJs tech and since Roy didn’t drive, I was the man!!! This was one of the best times of my life 💯

what a fantastic band, its such a pitty that they put this out in 1990, if they had in around 1984-85, they would have been a worldwide success for sure. Nevertheless, luckily for us, they eventually put out their full album - Sons of Thunder (2008), which includes these great EP tracks. Man, I just don't hear it with this one... M.A.R.S. was a masterpiece, never to be repeated, there's just something about that record. I can see it in your eyes, Fantasy, Slave to my touch etc, but this one just lacks that hook Project: Driver had. Anywho, thanks for the upload, I appreciate it however.
