@Ethan_Cubed on the day it was posted. I lurk in the streams a lot lmao. I can even give a rundown as to why he was in the ancient city in the first place. He got very distracted from the current project while looking at shader settings and was flying around a location where he found the first sniffer egg. Then he noticed a mountain that looked tall enough for an ancient city and said something along the lines of 'I wonder what the shaders look like in an ancient city' then started to dig down. He found the ancient city devised a plan to get one chest and yea you've basically seen the rest lolol. From what I remember, Phil did not enter an ancient city at all during 2023 in hardcore. He was busy doing a project (The Greater Spawn Islands) Hopefully this explains it ;w; 👍

Ancient city its a fascinating place and im not talking about loot you may find there. Mystery surrounding this giant structure only small lore bits and yet still big unknown what exactly happened there. In my hardcore world i spend far to much time disarming whole place. Giving such a strange vibe...

My best guess? The Ancient Builders were likely an Atlantic people (could thrive on land, sea, and air, but preferred the ocean since that's where they grew up, ofc.) I assume this not just because of the temples you can still find in the oceans that are sill actively being guarded: *_but also because the portal in the city center resembles an Axolotl's head..._*

There *IS* evidence that suggests warrior (Villagers, but they never vowed to pacifism) parties finding these ruined cities before us, however. ● Dark Oak bridges ● Cyan and Blue wool/carpets ● Some cities will have a chance to spawn a wrecked campsite near the cityscape, likely built by warriors. I still stand by my ongoing theory that the Ancient Cities are derelict remnants of the Ancient Builders' civilization - and that their architecture suggests that they were an aquatic race (given how similarly structured it is to Ocean Temples.) What is especially alarming is that the gigantic portal in the centerpiece of the city strikingly resembles the head of an axolotl... *_What's most important is that there is an ongoing theory that the best way to understand what truly happened is to play the three disks at the right time..._*

@butcherdesuyoi So... I just recently watched a dude's video on the Illagers... What if I told you that the Ancient Cities may, possibly, have been a beachhead for the creatures of The End to invade The Overworld, only to be foiled by an agent of The Nameless Kingdom who had a Wither go guns blazing to distract its sabotage of the city hall?! It's likely that the inhabitants were psychically controlled by Endersent (all of which operated from their own separate "Chambers" - one of the jigsaw structures that will appear in an Ancient City) - *_and were trying to help mass produce the Orb of Dominance..._* *_No wonder The End was seemingly severed so abruptly and had a new jailer to keep 'em in check!_* If I were The Warden, I'd not wanna let anything touch that crap, either!

Funny that the first ancient city i ever explored so happened to be under the main house i built on my singleplayer, it yield me 4 swift sneak III, and the silence trim which is my favorite, not otherside disk, but as of now i only explored like 40% of the city so far

Phil should really turn off his music and listen to the deep dark music that plays from the game. I think it is the most fitting biome specific music in the game
