Ironic to think of how some of phish' peers that DID have the big singles (spin doctors, Blues traveler) are now looked at like theyre washed-up and cheesy (I love both those bands,but pop culture is a funny thing). Having the single can hurt more than help

@@jamesbowers5946 Well, its never good. Here one moment, gone the next. One or two hit wonders and then disappear forever. Footnote long forgotten. Meanwhile Phish lives on. All the crap out there wish they could be like Phish. Phish announces shows, they sell out. Phish announces a tour, they sell out. None of this, well they have to have the big hit single from the big hit album with the big hit video or else no one knows anything. Have an ounce or maybe less of intelligence, so maybe they can go see them live or something stupid like that. But they all have to do what someone tells them to do for no reason. So glad Phish is not like that. Can't wait to see what they do in 17 days from today. It will be great, the summer tour can finally start. Phish will rule the summer.

what part is he faking? there's just one riff in the whole song, then the weird fugue section and back to the same lick..I've seen Trey forget sections of his elaborate instrumental sections, but he's performed this song hundreds of times for 30 years...the precise groove is in his bones, that's why he doesn't need to be playing the album note for note, he's chillin

The middle section which is what I think your referring to is called an atonal fugue it’s a composed piece so not random at all more like controlled chaos. But it does kinda sound random lol
