I become more and more impressed with this band with every song/tune that I hear. As I've said before, I really appreciate true musicians. Great stuff once again. Cheers and regards from England. 😊😎🎸🇺🇦

I was in the crowd about 10 rows back from the stage for this, what a memory. Having said that, this jam came right out of another absolute monster jam Moma Dance. I highly recommend checking it out. The brooklyn Moma Dance > Free combo is amongst my top 5 concert experiences of all time. They go together like peanut butter & jelly.

New subscriber here! I love that you have been steered towards the early Phish to start with. This is the way. One of the things I appreciate about this band is that they are basically four incredibly talented nerds who aren't afraid to NOT take themselves too seriously. This is especially apparent in their earlier lyrics. But, you should also understand that at the time, this was such a breath of fresh air and served as a VERY welcome and needed counter balance to the brilliant yet neverendingly angst-ridden over-the-top serious peak of the grunge era of the 90's. I will also steer you to the earlier classics because it was so mind-blowing, every single night and I along with thousands of others have Phish making up 80% of the greatest concert moments I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot (Pink Floyd, Plant Page, Lollapalooza I, Allman Brothers, etc..) Admittedly, I may be biased towards 93-95 because I'm old enough to have discovered them in person during that time. I absolutely love the complete, mature band they have become, they are like fine wine. BUT... I have still, to this day, NEVER been so blown away by a band or a guitarist as I was by young and hungry Trey and the boys. They were a raging forest fire playing for love and food. They sound SO GOOD live because from 1990-1995, they played 630 shows! 630! Before they EARNED the right to play a 2-night New Years Eve run at Madison Square Garden, a spot they now hold in perpetuity. PLEASE do yourself a favor and watch and see why Gen-Xers got hooked and now can't wait to take their grandkids to see this band. Divided sky 10-31-94 - same Trey-centric video from the same LEGENDARY show as the While My Guitar Gently Weeps review you did. This maybe the GOAT version of one of their greatest songs of all time with one of Trey's greatest solos ever - An absolutely ridiculous ALL-Timer. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXfXfJyubb6CmLM Slave to the Trafficlight 12-7-95, great version of one of their greatest, most beloved songs kzbin.info/www/bejne/ql6bqYKvdqqJaqM Stash 7-8-94 (also on the album A Live One) - an epic jam with a false peak, followed by the real one (1994 "pro-shot" i.e. low-def) kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWq9apyjfNOXpNE Split Open and Melt 7-24-94 - absolute fire! Trey's peak riffs on this song sound like nothing you've ever heard before - (1994 "pro-shot") kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJTPeHSao9WIhdk Bathtub Gin 8-17-97 - general consensus is that this is the greatest Gin ever played - the pure joy exuded by the band on this version is overwhelming - pro-shot that switches to fan-filmed halfway through kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3fMdahjp7ONqKs Harry Hood 10-23-94 - my personal favorite - sadly no video but one of the greatest live performances of ANY song by ANY band EVER - it peaks and you're not done - it peaks again! (also immortalized on the album A Live One) - One of the best parts about this version is that the recording is of such high quality that you can hear individuals in the crowd responding spontaneously at key moments of change in the song - EVERYONE there just KNEW it was ON! kzbin.info/www/bejne/f36Vpn-MqqqYpZY

Happy to hear you like and will dive further into Phish. They are truly a great band. And yes there is a studio version of this. For a ripping Trey solo, you might like “Mike’s Song”, especially the live version from the album “Slip, Stitch, Pass”

Glad you’ve enjoyed the band - your reactions are fun to watch. I would recommend checking out their more “prog” side - in songs like Divided Sky, Guyute, and Reba. But for a great summation of who the band is, watch a live version of You Enjoy Myself. It’s probably their “signature” tune - and has been played most often out of their long repertoire. There are prog elements, funk breaks, brief nonsensical lyrics, and just general weirdness. There is probably no Phish fan who doesn’t like that song. If you want to see some muscly guitar solos, Maze is another good option. And for a look into the depths of their group improvisation, there are “jam vehicles” like Tweezer, Down with Disease, and Sand that are brief pop rock numbers that extend into open ended jam sessions .

Gordo laying down some earthy tones. I believe this show was at the home of The Brooklyn Cyclones on Coney Island, NYC. Also, i noticed that the first commenter's name is a Mike Gordon. Is that THE Mike Gordon from Phish, or another Mike? Inquiring minds want to know.
