I think a lot of us look at that and think, there's no way i can ever get that whole thing down, maybe if i work on it for a year. Forget about Trey, you have some Serious Talent to figure that out and then play it to speed! For the rest of us mortals...there's a lot to be gained by learning even an individual section. Chord voicings that Ive never tried, and crazy fingering of lines; going thru those as excercises will improve my playing in general, even if i never attempt this entire piece as a thing.

I initially had that feeling when I started to learn Stash, but it surprisingly only took me a little less than two hours of grinding to get it learned and memorized. Give it a shot for a couple of hours and see how much you can learn; I think you are probably a lot more capable than you think you are! And I totally agree, I have learned a ton more guitar stuff by learning trey’s complex compositions than probably any other player out there. His stuff is so unique and so much of it can be transferred into your “bag of tricks” for when you’re improvising as well. It is invaluable as a learning tool. It is such a great workout for your fingers and your brain at the same time whenever you fully learn a Phish song, too. All around some of the absolute best guitar for learning and teaching yourself new stuff that you haven’t thought about before. Trey is one of the all-time greats.

My man I pray that you have a killing band to play some of these with when things get back to normal... the execution is one thing and you kill it on these tunes.. but the memorization in itself is an insane amount of work... I understand learning something up to speed to put out a video but WOW... these are not small amounts of compositions to memorize... i applaud as always but damn I hope you get to do something with these tunes more than just the vids! (I'm sure you've got a kicking band playing originals and such in normal times.. but just saying) Great as always.
