How do attackers get our contacts (emails, numbers) to send phishing scams to? Is it by data breaches or..?

Could be data breaches or companies selling or releasing your contact information. Also some people just try random email addresses to see if they are valid.

SPray attacks can happen too :) just collating all those various data breaches (which are for sale on telegram for example) and mass sending phishing emails to all those leaked contacts.
