Thanks for the great tutorial, Aaron. I have been using Photoshop for quite a few, but never used Apply image before. I always used stamp visible layers (SHIFT-CTRL-ALT-E). Time to investigate the use of Apply image.

What is the difference between apply image and cont-alt-shift-E to create a new image?

Hey there! The "Apply Image" and "Ctrl+Alt+Shift+E" (or "Cmd+Alt+Shift+E" on Mac) commands in Photoshop serve similar purposes, but they have subtle differences in their functionality. Apply Image applies a selected layer or layer group to the current layer, blending them based on the chosen blend mode. Ctrl+Alt+Shift+E creates a new layer that is a merged copy of all visible layers in the document.
