I grew up in Binbrook, where the last Lightning squadron was based. They used to do the thing where they'd take off and go vertical to 70,000ft; it's one of only two aircraft (the other being Concorde) that literally makes the ground shake. You could reach down and feel the ground vibrating.

I grew up in South Africa where the last flying examples are kept, not sure how airworthy they are anymore, I was driving by cape town international the other day and watched a lightning take off and go vertical, truly a beautiful aircraft and I hope I get to see them flying again, it really makes me sad knowing they’re just sitting there unattended.

Whenever Phy takes CAS: Flies uninterrupted for DAYS right over the whole map including the enemy base. When I take CAS: Hug the deck, high speed, countermeasures, fly perpendicular to AA positions .... BOOM shot down.

And remember, kids, the Saudis *USED* these in their various wars with Yemen and other countries. They were almost always flown by ex-RAF pilots, but the Saudi pilots that qualified racked up large flight hour totals in them. 10,000 hours over 20+ years with 250-500 of those being combat hours was not uncommon by the time they transitioned to F15's and Tornado ADV

Hello phly i lived my childhood in an airbase in saudi arabia (prince sultan airbase) and there was a model of this aircraft everytime i ask my dad about it he says son thats the pain in the ass right there for maintenance, so moral of the story is that this aircraft is not effective in the saudi desert and heat so they stopped using them and the F-5’s and got replaced with F-15 strike eagle i was waiting for warthunder when i started to play the game and they added the lightning i was just waiting for them to add this model in specific because indeed it was real, it was too much wait until i am surprised that they added it finally lol Love your vids man keep up the good work love from saudi 💚💚

Yea this, the WMA301 and the TAM-2IP are one of those premiums that still doing well in a full uptier despite each has a mayor flaw: the ACs (both) has mobility issues (the Rooikat can't turn, the WMA has no reverse, and both lack of torque) and the TAM doesn't even gets a night-vision. I kind of feel the British is the underdog again of the "big 5" , when it comes to top premiums. The Lightning and the Challenger are not bad, but still weaker than the other (newer) top premiums. I would not be surprised if the US and Japan would get a new top premium MBT or jet soon, (specially Japan, they really need a new jet).
