We need more funky interwar stuff like this. Most of the flavour of this game is found in downtier, but yet it's not capitalized on enough - Play a vehicle for a few games until all components are researched, and then move on because you can't get RP for higher tier vehicles or complete daily challenges.
@nicolaspeigne14292 жыл бұрын
Low tier only challenges could be fun
@Em.P142 жыл бұрын
It would be a quite big problem for new players, then the grind to high tier tanks would be even harder (ok you can research the low tier stuff quite easy, but still, the more there is, the harder it will get). They should create something like negative BR ratings and with that giving you the option to research into older or newer tanks
@nicolaspeigne14292 жыл бұрын
@@Em.P14 except there is already easy fixes to not increase the grind, namely reserve vehicules gor the very useless stuff, and for the tech trees that get crowded they put simir vehicles together in a shelf so you only have to research the first one and you can come back later to research the others.

I just play the lower tiers because that's where the game is enjoyable. The higher up you go the worse it tends to get. Sure, there's a lot of fun stuff up in high tier but it's also much more automated and easy to use. I started playing WT because I loved WW2 tanks and that's never changed. I just don't find my interest in the post war stuff all that much.

The Chenu engines were extremely unreliable and broke often. The Maybach engines are used in game. The Char 2C used 2 of those Maybach 250CV engines, each having 16.95L of displacement, for a total of ~34L of displacement with both engines running. From what I found it's probably 25 liters, just guessing because similar engines were named after their displacement in tenths of liters, and this one is called 250. Also 25 liters to achieve 500 horsepower is reasonable for that time period. Edit: According to wikipedia the engine of the T-35 is 47 liters, so I'm guessing the Char 2C has 2 engines of 25 liters each, but it's just a guess.

@@grasynedwards There are diesel locomotives with 250 liter engines and this thing is about the size of a train (although it loads of space used up by tracks, crew, ammunition, etc). Had the US not intervened in ww1, the french had planned to push the german line in 1919 with 300 of those, alongside a large number of FT17 light tanks (they already had 3000 FT17 by 1918). At the time there wasn't any "tank company", the french had only started working on on the tank concept in 1914. So they had their automobile companies, and ship building companies, to design tanks. It is quite clear in the 2C design, with its turret placement. The idea was to build "land fleets", eachmade of a few 2C escorted by a swarm of FT17.
@jsplicer92 жыл бұрын
The engines are likely modeled as the Sautter-Harlé diesel inline 6 engines, sadly I'm unsure of the exact displacement. These were installed on later tanks to replace the earlier Maybach V12 German engines. They made 250 horsepower each, and sent power through a hybrid drive system (yes, like the Porsche Tiger/Elefant) to the rear sprockets. The shapes on top of the engines you were looking at are the individual cylinder sleeves. A lot of old engines were built like this, rather than having the cylinders/heads encased in a full "block". Source: I wrote the Tank Encyclopedia article on the 2C. Happy to answer any other questions.
@DAKOTA567772 жыл бұрын
The engines were around 17L displacement each, so 34L total, and what's more interesting is the use of electric drive. So it works more like a diesel electric locomotive than a normal tank, with each engine running a generator while the electric motors actually produce the propulsion. Hence why it also has the same speed in reverse, since it's just running the motor backward instead of using a seperate gear chain.

Funny fact about the actual C2 Char Bis. France built them in anticipation to intercept any invading German force, kind of like a lumbering Maginot Line, and kept them for a "rainy day". The day Germany actually did start pulling some stuff, they started shipping their C2's out of the nation so they wouldn't be captured or destroyed. . . . . . because it wasn't raining that day. I'm kidding about the raining bit. But they seriously did not use these tanks even though they had them because they were afraid of losing that investment and in the end they lost that investment as they didn't make it out of France and were captured on route.

Liter is the metrical unit for displacement, so for example the Packard Merlin V-1650 used in a P-51D has a displacement of 1,650 cui. Multiplied with "roughly" 16.387 equals 27,038.55 cubic centimeters, which divided by 1,000 equals 27.038 liter displacement. The DB601 from the Bf109 has 33.9 liters displacement, multiplied with 1,000 is 33,900 and then divided by 16.387 is about 2,068.71 cui rounded for 2 decimals. So you can see the reason why in the early stages of ww2 planes with the DB601 were superior and in the later stages, even though the DB601 and 605 had more displacement, the lack of high octane fuel made them inferior... And since you clicked "expand": the horsepower is not the important factor when it comes to moving big machines like tanks, boats or Saturn V rockets. What matters is the torque, which is a result of potential displacement of engines: a tank like the one in this video might have 2 straight-6 engines with 250hp each, but each engine might produce 500 Nm torque, while a F1 race car has a V12 engine with 800hp and 600 Nm torque. So the F1 car has more horsepower but less overall torque and torque is the decisive factor when trying to move those steel monsters. Last but not least: the Maybach HL230 has 23.095 liters or 1,409.3 cui displacement, producing 700hp at 3,000 rpm and 1,850 Nm or 1364.5 ft lbs of torque at 2,100 rpm. Guess what rpm range was favoured on HL230 powered tanks 😘

Max speed with the Renault's was 10km/h, then in 1923 they used captured german Mercedes engines (12km/h), and when they wore out... in comes Maybach (15km/h)

I'm not exactly sure what the _displacement_ of those honking great straight 6s were, they were possibly twin 17 litre Maybachs, but they were located in the _engine room_ Engine _room_ _Engine_ room _Ships_ have engine rooms, that's how big this stupid thing is.

I took this thing and covered the whole front turret of this 20 foot tall monstrosity with branches and ferns. It actually works pretty well when you just pop up over a hill and plink them with your 155mm shell

those funnels are 2C's exhaust pipes. looks funny because it seems like it shouldn't be on top of pistons.i guess that is hybrid form of gas turbine and piston engine together and litre about maybe around 20-30?

What a gift for players for Christmas, a massive French land dreadnought. BF1 had it for years, so why not give War Thunder it aswell.

I'd say some massive weaknesses are if you track it, shoot its engine or driver and if the enemy tank is smaller like the m22

@@amagimofumofu6549 Actually the 155 or whatever is an Area Denial tool if someone manages to get to your side, just gotta shoot as low as you can beside you and you should overpressure most light tanks around you.
