WEBIG You would take it to tier V because of it's shell. Plus, armour does nothing against HEATFS anyway, so in that field, you're at no disadvantage. The low profile will help you get around unseen. The speed isn't as bad as you say it is. It can really move when it wants to. With the 320mm HEATFS, it can pen the front of any tank in the game at all ranges. Its reload rate is nothing to be ashamed of, either, and with an aced crew, it'll even better. I'd say the only real disadvantages are exposed crew and ammo, and the long acceleration time.

Whale Thunder let's say i'm in pz. 3 with long 50. Defaut round cannot reliably pen the hull, so only choice is turret. The turret, however has some (actually quite a lot) places where the shot just doesnt pen/bounce. Tungsten is useless as well (which is total BS, that's why german tanks were feared, because of the high penetration rounds), because for some reason it still bounces on hull. But wait... oh ussr fanboy.. i'm talking to a brick wall...

As someone who plays this vehicle regularly, let me clarify some things to the people who bitch about it being "OP" because they got shot once by it: 1. Visibility is 181%. A mole rat can spot this thing. 2. Horrible gun depression; many potential sniping locations are non-viable or require suicidal positioning. 3. You think your open-top TD is vulnerable? The entire back half is open; you're a really big SPAA truck that's slower than continental drift. 4. Too big to hide in many cover spots. 5. Half the time you kill someone, they spawn in a fighter and suicide crash into you; they don't even need to be good enough to hit you with their guns, and the crashing plane instantly burns you down. 6. Paper armor; getting scratched by any machine gun can set a fire or kill crew instantly. 7. BR is now 4.3. The ONE selling point of this TD is its amazing gun, and even that will bounce on the turret fronts of a lot of the medium tanks it gets put in with. If Gaijin nerfs this, it will be a punishment to play.

In order to call artillery on it, someone needs to spot it, almost a guaranteed kill for it, then you have to hope it doesn't move, and your arty hits it. Granted, it doesn't need to be exact, the open gun means death to all manning the breech, but without arty you're stuck.

They need special FlaK rounds just for this "tank", that explode when within 10 or so many meters of a plane and act like big HE shells or FRAG shells and spew shrapenel in all directions and cause high damage, as well as equipping them with stereoscopic rangefinders (radar/light) or at least stadiumetric (measurements at range div. by actual size) ones such as the sniper rectie but better. Also the ability in RB and SB for predicted speed like target tracking with the estimated altitude and taking the angle and time from the starting and stopping point of that angle (time for some trigonometry) getting the estimated speed as well as altitude multiply them together and divide by the shell velocity. With all that done you can have some very accurate shooting and have shots go about five metres from the target. And an 88mm shell spewing shrapenel from about 5 metres away from your wing or cockpit means broken wing of dead pilot.

The very fast reload rate is very true to the original concept. Because the guncrew had many members and the open area around made moving and reloading very fast. But in reality it was used as a "bunkerbuster" because as soon as any (light, medium or heavy) tank gets too close then it's a sitting duck. Then the dismounted version of the 88 FLAK would be in a much better position to defend.

The good points about this vehicle is the enemy will low their guard and use their MG instead their main turret and get fucked up cause they doesn't consider it as threat!, this 8,8 cm gun is really badass weapons and can compete in 3 Tier battle as well, it's one of my most favorite vehicle in War Thunder XD

I just did the update. Test drived the 88mm half track. And one shoted the doomturtle while playing around with it. My jaw droped. I hit one of the hatches on top and it exploded the amo. Holy crap.
