These are actually some super interesting changes, as a modder who’s also a dev in my day job. Sure, the way it matters to players is just data packs. But what all these changes like standalone models, item names and tags instead of hardcoded IDs and damage values (remember those?), etc tell me is they’re slowly refactoring the entire system to be more extensible. New items, blocks, mobs and mechanics will be easier to add and change for Mojang because of this. It shows a real commitment to continuing development on this game.

Bedrock has this bug too however it only freaks out for enchanted **items** (not just armor sadly) The texture (mainly enchanted weapons not armor) will fizzle in and out of existance when you hold it. Armor will be a blank color with the enchanted glow, it covers your ENTIRE body, and will fizzle in and out of existance with the enchanted texture while wearing. Also some items (Bedrock cobwebs) are comically large or are held the wrong way. Idk how long that last has been around, but the enchanted armor bug has been in the game (to my knowledge) for a year give or take.
