I'm sure that a 52-year-old father of three adults isn't the target demographic for either Phoebe or Noah & Abby, but after finding Phoebe's Motion Sickness, I soon found Noah's Lover...and I have been avid fans of both since. Independent of each other, they are extremely emotional singer/songwriters...something this world needs more and more of every day. They also both have the ability to strip down their songs, play them in a group, with an acoustic guitar, or a piano and violin. Together...in this back-to-back combination of songs...well, this is nothing short of perfection. The harmonies, the pianos, but without the emotion in all three of their voices - it would just be a good performance. It isn't. It's magic. Beethoven once said, ""To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable." As a kid who played the piano and whose mother would let him know when he made a mistake on songs of her choosing, I stopped playing in high school. Picked it up again in college, then life got in the way. I've gotten back into it just last year, and had even played in a new band, my first gig ever - before the world changed. Those of you who play an instrument, or whose voice is one - do it with passion. That's what makes this something I must stop everything and watch and listen to - each and every time. (Sometimes I even watch it again, and type a comment for what seems like the entire 8 minute performance.)

I'm 64 with an eclectic taste in music which I'm so glad my 24 year old daughter has embraced. I've been listening to Noah Gunderson for years, but my daughter introduced this masterpiece to me. We were traveling from Charlotte, NC to Jacksonville FL to visit her mother and she had this on the travel play list she made for us for that trip. I am so grateful for her, and the heart and soul of music.

I wanted to say thank you. Don't know if you guys will ever see this but I need to say it. I met my best friend asking for a duet partner to sing this with me. A year ago he was killed trying to protect his boyfriend from being the victim of a hate crime. Both families disapproved so his bf and I were left to plan and pay for everything on our own. I sang this as a solo at his funeral. It makes me cry everytime. But it means so much to me, that he can live through this song. Thank you! ❤❤❤

Just rewatched this and it hit me a lot harder the second time around. Not just as a pretty song, but as a musician. There’s so much more than conviction here- There's pain wrapped up in the beautiful melodies, and they all converge in a really vulnerable place. This is the difference between singing a song and living it. If you don't bleed a little (emotionally), you might never find that place where art and pain and beauty and joy all coalesce into something real yet transcendent at the same time.

“and when i’m sick and tired and my mind is barely there when a machine keeps me alive and i’m losing all my hair i hope you kiss my rotten head and pull the plug” a love so deep, so all-consuming that you will let yourself whither away and die, still holding on tight to the other. a lover that watches as you fade away, a lover that will hopefully someday put you out of your misery. the pain in this song is tangible. truly breathtaking.

LYRICS Sometimes I think I'm a killer Scared you in your house Even scared myself by talking About Dahmer on your couch But I can't sleep next to a body Even harmless in death Plus I'm pretty sure I'd miss you Faking sleep to count your breath Can the killer in me Tame the fire in you? Is there nothing left to do for us? I am sick of the chase But I'm hungry for blood And there's nothing I can do But when I'm sick and tired When my mind is barely there When a machine keeps me alive And I'm losing all my hair I hope you kiss my rotten head And pull the plug Know that I've burned every playlist And given all my love Can the killer in me Tame the fire in you? I know there's something waiting for us I am sick of the chase But I'm stupid in love And there's nothing I can do And there's nothing I can do Nothing ever comes like it did when you were in it Just a memory of a kid, just a washed out finish Just a pain-in-the-ass Johnny Cash middle finger No shooting up drugs, no quitter is a winner Nothing ever comes like it did when you were in it Keeping nothing for yourself like a stone cold killer Now you're passing your people like a ship in the night Looking to every stranger for a fight Nothing ever comes, ever comes if you call it Choking like a dog, like a dog on a collar Open up your mouth, your mouth if you want it Listen for the sound, the sound, the sound is coming down Hoping that you like, that you like how you're living Relying on the kindness of strangers that you will be forgiven How many times, how many times will you shit on what you're given? How many times, how many times 'til you shut up and listen? Nothing ever comes, ever comes if you call it Choking like a dog, like a dog on a collar Open up your mouth, your mouth if you want it Listen for the sound, the sound, the sound is coming down Nothing ever comes, ever comes Choking like a dog, like a dog Open up your mouth Listen for the sound, the sound, the sound is coming down Nothing ever comes, ever comes if you call it Choking like a dog, like a dog on a collar Open up your mouth if you want it Listen for the sound, the sound, the sound is coming down

The selfishness of wanting the suffering of the one you love to end, even if he too wants it to stop - makes you a "killer." The hardest love is the letting go. The hardest love is the letting go because the end is accepted. Every death, every divorce knows this. The precious has to pass without us, not you and I, but Us. The beauty of together stops suddenly. And in the aftermath, how to deal with the guilt? Trying to break free, only to choke on the collar that holds your guilt back. You did the right, but it feels like your love was somehow the end of the love itself. Come up for a breath. Realize in the open air, there is freedom in the beauty of letting them go, to let love live again.

There's the music, the harmonies, the chemistry, the ubiquitous drone filling the blank spaces, and the handover from track to track, and those checks would suffice to call this video very good. Yet, for some other reasons I cannot fathom right now, this is something else than very good: This could well be the most *lovely* music video I've seen in my life.

This just gets better each time I revisit it. I am a fan of Phoebe and Noah and Abby and the unique but relatable emotions they paint with their music so it intrigued me that they recorded together. When I first heard it, I liked it but was thrown by it because I was just trying to understand how the songs fit together. The more you listen to it though, you begin to let their performances and words really marry and sit with you, and it fascinates me how these two songs begin to create a deeper meaning like a good book, but with music. It's not clear to me exactly what it is, and I'm sure it's a little different to everyone who hears it, but it really taps into quite a feeling listening to these two songs back to back in such a fluid way.

Sittin here in the middle of the night fighting my demons as they try and destroy the heaven I built and this song is just giving me the strength to defeat my internal opposition

Great way to phrase that How are you, on the other side? My kind advice is that we will always have that inner struggle, I will always be my worst enemy and critic. Remembering that it will never go away really does help me deal with it better in the present. I’ll never stop struggling as long as I’m human

@@SethCorbinMusic Wow . What an unexpected and profound reply . Forgot I even left a comment on this song and haven’t heard it in a year . A year ago I was in a very dark place and I’m still there ; Deeper in the darkness actually ; But it’s a substantive darkness ; The type of darkness from which the universe was spawned . Im bringing a new reality into existence out of the darkness ; a reality I was once afraid of but now would only be afraid to not manifest . Thank you again for your reply . Just wow . What a moment of reflection for me . 🙏🏾
