Phoebe’s first year condensed into 13 min.
Last Christmas we thought we were going to end the year still on our adoption agency’s waitlist. But unbeknownst to us, our baby girl was born on Dec 18th at 9:24am weighing 2lbs 6ozs and 13 inches long. She was a miracle born at 27 weeks. On Dec 26th at 5:10pm we got the call we had been anticipating, we had been chosen and we have a new daughter. We talked as a family that evening about the name Phoebe. The birth mother requested for her middle name to be Elayne. So that evening we decided to name her Phoebe Elayne. The next morning couldn’t come fast enough to drive to the hospital to meet our daughter in the NICU. The beginning of this video is us meeting her for the first time. Every day after that, we spent bonding and loving on her till we heard the best words “Phoebe is being discharged”! On Feb 27th, we brought Phoebe home. It wasn’t till July 25th when our adoption was finalized. The next best words were said by the judge “I am going to grant the adoption and this point forward the child will be known as Phoebe Elayne Barrett”!
Phoebe has brought so much joy into our lives this past year. She is the sweetest baby. We can’t get enough of her smiles, giggles, cuddles and kisses.
We wanted to recognize Promise686, LifeSong and Show Hope who helped us financially with our adoption fees. They were beyond generous in their grants they gave us. We also want to recognize our generous family, friends and even strangers for helping us raise the remainder. We are in awe of all the support and kindness we received. With our grants and fundraising, our adoption was covered 100% with our agency Covenant Care. We have so much GRATITUDE for the Lord bringing this all to fruition.
Lastly, we would love for Phoebe’s birth mom to know how appreciative we are of her for allowing us to be Phoebe’s parents. She made the most selfless choice. She is heavy on my heart as I know this must have been a hard year as she is healing. My prayer is one day we can meet and she can see how well Phoebe has flourished from the tiny little baby she gave birth to.
Please enjoy watching a snippet of the joy our beautiful daughter Phoebe has brought into our lives this past year.
Happy 1st Birthday Phoebe!!! Mommy and daddy LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!
(If anyone is interested in adoption, I would love to tell you more about Covenant Care if you are in the state of GA. Or are you in need of help with the costs, I can share about the grants.)
