Been daily driving Phoenix in 35 for the last 6 months and I've learned so much shooting it. It's like slide film at its core. I love the way it looks with flash, all my friends at the lab have been laughing at me for using it so much but it feels like this is a potentially once in a lifetime opportunity to use a limited brand new film stock, so I'm accepting all my results as a Harman the company is accepting it as well. It really is a HARD film stock to use and I love that, from the blown highs to crushed blacks or the wack scanning, It just feels right to use it after the insurmountable amount of time and money that has went into the development. I may be tripping a little but I believe the emulsion material theyre using is very very good, ive shot many many rolls of it and it's a really easily film to handle and ive never seen it scratched really? Love that it's always flat and always has a great surface. I love how it looks in overcast and sometimes i like shooting it at like 20iso. Just bought 5 rolls on B and H to hold me over till labs get it in.
@MerlinBarkowsky3 ай бұрын
Love the stock as well! Do you have some example shots how it looks like with flash?
@IceBergs3 ай бұрын
@@MerlinBarkowsky I do not, I'm planning on saving all of it for a post in the future, however if you look up a channel named the120ist in his video of phoenix 120 he does two different shoots with flash one outdoors and one in a studio as well as a holga. My results are very close to those, the only difference is I usually meter for 50 or 20 iso
@chrisbarne74583 ай бұрын
@@MerlinBarkowsky I've shot two rolls with flash and it really does have "found these negatives from the 80s in the attic" vibes, it's great. Though one time I calculated the flash for an f/11 shot and then beamed the film at f/1.8 by accident... Oops.
@coreyriddell17593 ай бұрын
Woah, what are your results like at iso 20? Rating it at about 160, it's still pretty far under exposed for my tastes.
@IceBergs3 ай бұрын
@@coreyriddell1759 yellow very yellow. turns baby poop green yellow with overexposure in 35mm, on 120 it is more purple to my eye. it can be easily color corrected each way. If the light is uniform and even 20 isn't much overexposure, if it's harsh direct uneven light you're blowing your subject goodbye but still can get a useable image with work

"Bought a mint 645" - Uh-oh - Those rather complex medium format ELECTRONIC cameras are failing Left-&-Right. - Electronics AGE (Capacitors go bad and Elect.micro Whiskers form on surface mount components; shorting them out). Better to invest in an ALL MANUAL Hasselblad and a 645 interchangeable back.If a Pano is required, get a Hasselblad SWC with a Pano mask kit for the body & optical finder (MUCH better ZEISS glass & forget about the problematic XPan & TX-1 choices). Plus, with the Hasselblad YOU"LL NEVER LOSE MONEY if you ever want to sell it. - BTW, I'm a camera technician...😎

I'm confused. If box speed is 200 then shooting it at 100 is the "pulled by 1 stop shot". So If you shoot it at 100 you're already pulling it one stop and then if your second shot is pushed by one stop and the reference is always to box speed, then you shot it at 400? And then how did you actually compensate for the pushing/pulling if all the shots are on the same roll? Pushing and pulling isn't just changing the iso on your light meter. There is a corresponding compensation in development time or type of developer that has to be done in the darkroom. How did you shorten and lengthen the development time when developing the same roll? What am I missing?

Oh, Maybe I’m not explaining enough in this particular episode. I’ve done other episodes about pulling and pushing film. In this episode, I’m not pulling, but I am pushing in development. There are a few things I’m doing 1 • overexposing and dev normal 2 • underexposing (rating the film at 400) and pushing it +1 in development 3 • underexposing 2 stops (rating the film at 800) and pushing it +2 in development Hope that helps
