Can't wait to explore Japan here pretty soon. Been teaching myself the language everyday, and since I was a child I fell in love with the idea of visiting Japan. Both my grandparents were there. My grandma learned Japanese and climbed mt Fuji back in the late 40s and 50s. My grandpa went around in a jeep in 45 and visited Kamakura, yokusaka, Tokyo, the countryside. I've always been fascinated with the Japanese people, culture and rich traditional history. Loved Kurosawa movies, anime, the last samurai still my favorite movie of all time. Can't wait to blast photek in my earbuds once I land in Osaka!

I love Photek's production work, because it isn't cluttered and he allows things to breathe and the drums to take precedent. It's so wonderful how everything has its own spot in the mix at the precise moment when needed.

Hip hop had a good run through the 90s and early 00s but as of late most of it is kinda embarrassing comparatively imo, still some great rappers out there but yeah. Such is the way with art; it manifests, breaks ground and is then commercialised for profit, and in doing so its essence, earnest and character - that is to say its soul - is essentially destroyed. Standouts remain but so often is the case that a kind of taint persists that's quite hard to separate from the general image of the genre of origin.
