Photo Presets: A Recipe NOT a Remedy

Sometimes really good things can be used in really bad ways. In my opinion, Photo Presets is one of those things. Photo Presets are a great tool but they are not a remedy. In todays quick tip, we talk about how Presets should properly be used.

Hitting the nail on the head! I fell into this trap when I first started in photography. I would buy preset after preset after preset. You should never depend on a preset to be a one click fix all. IMO the photo you take is more important then the preset you put on it. If you photo is shit, no preset will fix that. And like you mentioned, the settings are never the same. The preset was made using specific aspects.

I realised recently that I purchase presets as a way to support my fav photographers. I use them as a start point to find my direction. then save in to a fav preset folder for future use

I love this vid, I havent reached a year of experience at photography but within the year I been doing my research like a mad man. Someone once told me I should buy some preset from someone for a certain look, and so I responded as " I rather create my own presets from scratch because I want to be 100% the reason why my shot is the way it is and looks the way I want it to look" I feel like for myself it would bother me knowing the final image wasn't all me independently, that my craft isn't truly mine.
