I have a GX8 and often use a 7artisans 18mm f6.3 in B&W and i save both jpg's and rw2's. Usually i discard the rw2's in the end, but sometimes i tweeak them. I'm not shooting for instagram, so i use 16:9 aspect ratio. So Jan's setup is quite familliar to me. I like this setup very much somehow it connects me back to photography. I also often carry arround a small GF5 with that same lens and similar settings even when i'm not intentionally out for shooting. Nice video.

4:09 wow, I love they way Jan is using his GX8, viewfinder tilted up and controlling exposure shutter with exposure compensation in A-mode: f8 + ISO400 (f16 + ISO400 FF equivalent as for DoF and noise) fixed. Was my understanding correct? 6:23 only the central 13x13mm part of the sensor, BW. 9:03 I understood where just9mm name came from. You were lucky with that nice lady with her dogs.
@mattisulanto3 жыл бұрын
F8 on MFT would give you about the same as DOF as F16 on FF, if the angle of view is the same. To retain the same shutter speed, you'd then have to double the ISO on FF, which would give similar noise levels on both cameras, because FF has about two stops better signal to noise ratio. That lady was very kind to let us take those photos.

Nicely done. Street photography is much easier with autofocus lenses. With manual focusing ones, it is a percentage game. I usually carry two cameras when I travel to new places, 35 mm auto and 90 mm manual.

If you were using the Sony ZV-E10, it doesn't appear to be available in the U.S. until later this month

Very cool and chill walk with a likeminded guy. At least you’re not walking with someone who isn’t into photography and won’t wait for you to take the photo, something I experience sometimes when a buddy joins me on the trails in the mountains. I liked the smooth footage while walking. Would love to hear your thoughts on the new camera. Also would like to hear how you prepare for autumn photography. Hope you guys had a great coffee afterwards.

I’ve done a couple of photo walks using a GX9 and the Leica 15mm lens - really enjoyed it! I also tried doing JPEG only in B&W. Much of the time I’m out photographing birds with a really long lens so my biggest nightmare is to miss the chance of a peregrine falcon on top of a London building :-) funny thing is, when I pack other lenses or bits and pieces, I often forget I’ve brought them and just carry them around all day.

Like this type of real life videos. Only one question, why do you(Matti) use the back screen sometimes and not the viewfinder when using the camera in harsh light. Wouldn't it be better using the viewfinder But I enjoyed the video with you friend.

The Sony may be a small camera, but it looks unbalanced even with a semi-wide lens. It doesn't look like it is comfortable to handhold for a day of street photography too.
@mattisulanto3 жыл бұрын
Everything is not always what it looks😀 That lens is very lightweight and that combo is quite comfortable to hold. If you mount a big heavy lens on the ZV-E10, it feels unbalanced like any small camera with a big lens.

I just do not understand why so many use compensation dial, I use the shutter dial because then I can control both the shuttertime, aperture and ISO at all time !
@mattisulanto3 жыл бұрын
There are so many ways to end up with the same result. Your way is as good as any other way😀

It's a question what is better A mode with exposure compensation or M mode? Both modes require to rotate the dials equally.
