This is a very interesting lens, thanks for the review! I just wonder whether it will autofocus properly with older Sony bodies like the NEX-7 (which didn't do phase detection AF yet back then). I tried the Viltrox 56/1.7 on the NEX -7, but autofocus was hardly usable, sometimes slow, sometimes not acquiring focus at all, especially in low light situations. (On the not quite as ancient A7 II, the 56/1.7 AF wasn't too fast, either, but definitely more usable and reliable.)

I’m on the fence between this and the TTArtisan 35mm f1.8 Mark ii. The TT is all-metal and super portable for $125. What’s the advantage of getting the Viltrox?

I haven't done any direct comparison. But i feel the Viltrox would have better image quality in some area, while TTArtisan has better build quality and cheaper price.

Does Viltrox have an Agreement to not do L-Mount on certain Lenses ?

Viltrox is not a member of the L-mount alliance.

@pureheartvisuals You MIGHT be confusing Viltrox with Meike, which DOES make a few lenses in L-Mount (they currently have 4 autofocus lenses available in L Mount listed on their website).

No they don't AFAIK. But there are a few other companies that have created /creating AF L-mount lenses without joining L-mount officially. On a similar topic, I have the new Meike 85 1.8 Pro for L mount I'm testing right now!

yes that would be fun. But when i intereview them last year, they said they have no plan for that. The interview video is on my channel front page
