@photogenius7 жыл бұрын
Hey Leon Yong, thanks for watching - please consider subscribing as their will be plenty more videos coming soon that I hope will help you.
@flynnsclimbing92667 жыл бұрын
Leon Yong the shutter speed is how many times per second it takes a photo. For example, a shutter speed of 1/200 means that it is taking a photo extremely quickly, more precisely, 1/200th of a second. The aperture is how much light is let into the camera. A larger number of aperture means that less light can come in the lens. This means that the camera will focus on close things, and blur out far away things, like for portraits. A lower number means that the lens lets in more light. That setting is for taking photos like landscape, where you want the image to be light and everything to be in focus.
@ballz62407 жыл бұрын
Flynn's Climbing Unfortunately you are not quite right. Shutter speed is meant by how fast the photo is taken 0"6 is slow and good for making water appear smooth where as 1/200 is quite fast and good for photographing people in the streets. Aperture: the lower the number, f/1.8, lets more light in and blurs the background more this is ideal for portraiture and low light situations. The higher the number, f/11, doesn't let in as much light and makes more things in the background in focus. The lower the number is also referred to as being a wide aperture. This should clear things up a bit
@ruphusj88566 жыл бұрын
Aperture = FOCUS the foreground or background or both(depth of field) Shutter speed = FREEZE the moment(portrait, running child, motor bike n Jet)

I only received the standard 18-55mm lens with my D3400 camera - I bought a 50mm prime lens (AF-S) for portraits and am looking at getting a 10-20mm lens for wide angle shots (Nikon or Sigma)?? 1) Can you please advise what would be a good all round lens with better zoom capabilities than the one I have. 2) Should I buy a Sigma or Nikon wide angle lens AND 3) When taking video can you take photos at the same time.
@photogenius7 жыл бұрын
The 18-55 and 50mm prime is a great place to start. What lens to buy next would depend on what you are intending photograph. If you are keen on landscapes then the 10-20mm would be a good choice and the Sigma is a perfectly good lens and cheaper than the Nikon. If you want more 'zoom' for sports or wildlife photography then look at a telephoto lens. You cannot take stills whilst filming video, but it is very easy to switch between modes with the D3400. Paul @ Photo Genius 😊

I have recently bought the D3400 and am going on holidays overseas and want to take my new camera but don't really have the time to experiment before I go - and I'm a little nervous about playing around with manual. Great tips overall, except I would not recommend turning off auto ISO to especially beginners. Far more useful way is to configure auto ISO according to need / preference, and to leave it on. All you basicallly need to set is minimum shutter speed and max ISO you’d prefer and you’re all set.

As a beginner who has watched over 100 youtube videos about photography, I have to disagree with your point about changing the ISO to manual. Most beginners should move straight onto aperture priority mode leaving shutter speed and ISO sensitivity control on auto. Only advanced photographers should start messing with ISO sensitivity which is normally set when in full manual mode.

mr.photo genius. i am thinking about picking up photography. do you think the nikon coolpix b500 is a good beginner camera?
@photogenius7 жыл бұрын
HI Kristen. Thanks for checking out my channel. If you are keen on getting into photography then the Nikon B500 may not be the ideal camera. The B500 is a bridge camera with no manual options, so everything is automated and you will not be able to control essentials functions like aperture, shutter and ISO yourself. If you are keen to learn about photography then I would consider looking at picking up a DSLR camera. Thanks again for watching and please consider subscribing.

Hi Paul, I was thinking of getting a D5600 as an "entry-level" DSLR (been using Panasonic FZ200 for last 6 years, good bridge camera with great zoom). However, another reviewer said the stock 18-55mm it comes with is rubbish, and to invest in a better lens, he recommended 16-80mm. That lens costs around $1,000, the D5600 body costs $800!!?! Can't justify that sort of lens expense. What would you recommend?
@photogenius6 жыл бұрын
Hi there. In my opinion the kit lens (18-55mm) is absolutely fine to get you started. Lenses are incredibly important so I would definitely consider investing more money in the lens than the camera, but take it one step at a time. Best lens to buy on a budget (in my opinion) is either the 50mm f1.8 or 35mm f1.8 prime lenses. Thanks for watching and supporting my channel. Paul @ Photo Genius.

Hello! I got a Nikon D5300 and when I want to shoot in LV mode the camera have a huge delay, something of 1 to 2 seconds untill the actually picture was shoot, is not a real time shoot as it should be, and as other cameras does so because of that I can't use it properly. For example if I want to shoot all my pictures in LV mode it's impossible to use it without a tripod and the subject must stand still for almost 2 seconds,if she/he blinks during this time the picture is compromised. How can I fix this, or I will need a better camera?

@photogenius6 жыл бұрын
I suggest trying the following. PLUS of course watch lots of my videos as you will learn lots! ISO : 200 - 400 is ideal when shooting the day. Aperture : f3.5 - f5.6 is a large aperture to let lots of light through the lens. Shutter speed : This will depend on how much light is available, start with 1/80 and adjust. *** You need to be in the Manual (M) mode to control all off the above ***

Firstly check the camera mode is set to a Manual mode (M, A, S or P on the dial top of camera), on the D3300 I believe there is a Fn button on the side which if you push and turn the dial on the rear of camera should change the ISO. You may have auto ISO turned on - if so turn this off in the menu (shooting menu / ISO sensitivity settings). Thank you for watching

Mr. Photo Genius, what are the DSLRs with great image quality do you recommend for a beginner like me?
@photogenius7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Which camera to buy is never an easy question to answer as there are so many factors such as budget and what sort of photography do you want to do etc.... Assuming you are looking at a Nikon, if your budget is tight then you can't go wrong with the D3400, it's a great camera! But if you can stretch to a bit more $$'s then the D5600 or D7500 are certainly worth checking. Don't underestimate the importance of lenses thought, when I started out I went for a cheaper body and invested more in quality lenses - so important! Thanks for commenting and supporting my channel, best wishes 👍

What is the perfect lens for d3400 ?
@photogenius7 жыл бұрын
"What is the perfect lens" is a question I get asked a lot but is hard to answer as I know nothing about what type of photograph you wish to do. The kit lens that the D3400 comes with (18-55mm) is a great allrounder to get you started, adding a prime lens such as the 35mm f1.8 or 50mm f1.8 would also be a good idea. For sports / wildlife etc you may also want to consider a telephoto. Maybe I should consider doing a video about lenses 😊 Thanks for watching, please consider subscribing for more videos.

What a bad idea to turn Auto ISO off. Instead it should be configured right.

Hello, can you or anyone help me! I can’t open the “ISO sensitivity settings” in my camera. It’ say “ this option is not available at current settings or in the camera’s current state.”
@photogenius4 жыл бұрын
Without knowing what camera you are using, It sounds like you may be in auto mode. Try putting the camera in one of the manual modes - try P for programme if you are a beginner. Hope that helps.

Thanks so much for this video! It will definitely come in handy. I know better understand what ISO settings do. My boyfriend is buying me this for Christmas. I cannot wait!!!! I create manipulations in Photoshop and really want to start taking my own stock images with something better than my iPhone. You can see some of my work on my google+ page.

Check this link to compare specs and aside from the D3400 having Bluetooth connectivity they are almost exactly the same. Thanks for watching. www.dpreview.com/products/compare/side-by-side?products=nikon_d3300&products=nikon_d3400

Remove SD card from a camera then use a card reader to copy files to a computer.
