G'day Paul, have a question. I know ISO keep it low. What are your thoughts on auto iso but limiting how high it can go? Say 3200 or 6400? Also, would you be able to do something on car photography at all?

Impressive video, Photo Genius. Looking forward to your next upload. I smashed that thumbs up button on your content. Keep up the fantastic work! Your tips on avoiding overexposure are super helpful. How do you recommend balancing exposure when shooting in high-contrast environments?

Just downloaded this app, there are a lot of things it can do that Apple Photos cannot, but most of the things you choose to highlight can be done with plain old Photos.

Hi Paul, I noticed the overexposed spots in the info detail, but Exp comp rarely fixes this, as it then under exposures other parts of the image. Any other fixes for this, or is it simply a case of shooting into to much or too little light?

Hi Paul, i also switch my Vibration Reduction to off when photographing Planes. Especially shooting at High Shutter Speeds at 1/2000 of a second, i liked the Star Wars Figurines. Some really helpful tips like using the Digital Teleconver inside the Camera menu. Very useful tips Paul, many thanks 😊

I got a 700D years ago and thought I was doing alright by only using the photo modes - portrait, landscape, night etc. But looking back on those old shots, 90% were terrible. Focus in the wrong place, under and over exposures etc. Since watching just a handful of Paul's videos, I 'get' the Exp triangle and am now using Tv and Av depending on what I'm aiming to do. His focus videos also fixes up the user error of not grabbing the right focal point. I've even got some razor sharp images indoors on M with tripod and slow SS @ 100 ISO, because the light meter tells you exactly what to do - change the Ap or the SS. Perfect. It's almost too easy. Paul's videos are excellent.

I think these have to be the best beginners tutorials on the Tube. I've even taken some pin sharp images on Manual, because Paul shows how the Camera tells you how to balance an exposure. Sure, it'll take practice to use M and Priority modes consistently well, but I'm no longer using preset Canon dials like Portrait and Landscape. I gave up a few years ago after relying on these, they're not much better than Auto IMO. I've taken some great night time practice shots with Tv and Av priorities. Also finding daytime shots so much easier now, keeping ISO low and then only having to manage 2 variables. Just waiting for my nifty 50, so I can get better quality shots.

Paul, your videos are excellent. I have dug out my 700D from years ago and worked in Av and occasionally M, based on your tips. M is less daunting when the Exp comp tells you what you need to fix. I looked over my holiday photos from 2013, when I took hundreds of photos, and 95% of them are rubbish. Now I have a basic handle on ISO/SS/A I can see why I went wrong - shooting at low F stops for landscapes and family shots too. Pretty sure I was using the Canon dial presets back then, as I couldn't get a handle on technicalities of photography. It's now making sense.

Hugely helpful stuff here, and I'm glad I found it. I'm about to go outside right now and give this a try with my R6 Mk II and 100-500, and R5 with 200-800! Thanks for posting! EDIT: Took some shots tonight with the above cameras. I used your suggested settings, and save them as C3-Fv on both cameras. The results were excellent. Thanks again!

I use snapseed, have got ages. I also like lightroom but I only have the free version. Android apps.... Can just put the camera phone into pro mode and change all the settings yourself. Open camera is a great one for focus bracketing. Easy to use. ON1 Photo is another fun editing app. Not up with snapseed though. Great channel Paul. Thanks for the great videos.

This man is good. I learned more from a handful of his videos than I did months of trying to learn basic photography from a respected book. I 'got' the triangle, but was clueless how to apply it and ISO was a mystery. This vid showed me basic stuff on my old Canon I never knew existed, and how live view helps you to set up an exposure, even with manual mode. I've been relying on Av mode, but when the camera shows you the variables to change to balance a exposure, Manual is far less daunting.

Totally clear, great videos. But why does my Canon regularly select very high ISO when in an semi Auto modes like Av, when for bright outdoor settings, 200 should be fine?
@HughRogers609
@HughRogers609 10 күн бұрын
I have a 700D. I've been practising in Av mode, so the camera is still choosing ISO and Shutter. I get that lower ISO = less noise, but auto regularly puts this in the upper range. Is it better to set a lower max limit for this, I believe the Canon's can do that.
