3:54 The one on the left is very chalky. All one color. Lee's at least incorporated some blues into the shadows to give it some color contrast.

I'm also not a fan of chalky/milky photos, but that blue on the right looks too unnaturally random. The left photo has a cohesive color temp motivated by the lamp & window. There's an elegance to it. On the right photo... there's too many colors all over the place! 😂And don't get me started on the over-saturated green of that plant!

Pye's first one would be perfect if it had Lee's green plant, Lee's second one would have been better if the lights were not cut off on the right. Pye got the last one, the monotone made the woman pop where Lee's looked just like a snapshot and nothing special. Pye adds MOOD to the images, Lee just makes them normal. It is all a preference thing but I prefer Mood over normal.

I think Lee won. I actually like Lee's first version, his is more timeless, the tones look more natural and Pye's will feel dated at a certain point.

Honestly, it doesn’t matter who won or whose pictures look better. Photography is an art and it’s subjective. What one person likes, another one won’t. The same is especially true of editing pictures.

it's what happens when you have something symmetrical in the bg, and then you're photographing a subject in front of it.. if the subject isn't perfectly symmetrical to those BG elements, combined w any camera tilt, or movement off perfect 90 degree axis to the BG..things get wonky quick!!

Pye's first photo, had a nice color tone to it.. but he pushed the skin and the jewelry too bright. Lee's first edit was pretty 'meh' Pye's 2nd edit was pretty good..Lee's was ok, I feel he could've pulled back some of the highlights in the background lights, and the fact the lights are cut off on the right of the image drive me nuts as my brain must see symmetry in things like that.. I do like the added contrast in her face. Pye's 3rd edit had nice skin tone, but I can't stand that bright halo around her head..it's all my eye goes to. I do like the blacks in her clothing, where in contrast, Lee's is to 'open' Lee's 3rd edit is quite nice, just needs to pull some magentas and reds from the skin tone.. .. I say it's a tie overall..

2nd image- i totally agree with Lee! how can people choose original crop over that?! come on :P But on the 3rd image... well... I mean, some things should not be dragged for too long, one of them is Lee's edits...

On #2, I choose the original crop because Lee's edit is so blown out, it should go straight to the Recycle bin. Also on # 3, I liked Lee's bkgd, but the face was a little overexposed.

I like Lee’s first better with the contrasting background colors, I liked Lee’s second better, I don’t like the sky Lee chose so I’ll have to give the third to Pyle.

I think Lee's first picture won. The seond picture is a loss though, the crop is too aggressive and the black bars is a no-no. The third is a tossup, but i think Pye won. This is because I think the blues in Lee's picture that I'm picking up on the model. Otherwise, i think it is a true tossup.

Second one goes to Lee, no doubt about that; crop works better, and even skin and color edit is better, Pye's is sloppy crop and flat edit. First and third, Pye without any possibile competition from Lee.

Lee is good at everything BUT the contrast! He always makes his images so flat for some reason. Remember the sport shoot with Pye and his coworker a while ago - that was great shots, but suuuper flat edit.

Is it me or does sky replacements ALWAYS look terrible? This looks like a mid-day sky with sunset light on the ground to me. It makes no sense at all.

A good sky replacement shouldn't even be noticeable. Look at Mike Kelley's portfolio. I bet 25% of his skies are replaced. -P
