Hi Ashley: So nice to see some birds on your blog. Just to update you, the Wood Duck of North America is called just the, 'Wood Duck' or Aix sponsa is its scientific name. It is never called Carolina Wood Duck as far as I know and I have been birding for many years. It is a beautiful small species which will perch in trees at times. It nests here on our property in eastern Canada and sometimes uses our nest boxes placed near the river. They have a high-pitched squeal for a voice and we enjoy seeing them and are always happy when they return in spring. I much enjoy your blog so many thanks for your work in producing it.

Hi many thanks for your comment, yes the only reason I call it a carolina wood duck is that it had been displayed on the information board, or perhaps I just read it wrong. Anyway still a lovely bird as you said, I had not seen one before, so something new for me. 👍
