Photographing Iceland's Diamond Beach

Here in Iceland one of the most popular photography locations is called Diamond Beach. On today's vlog, we photograph it.

After a snowstorm blows through us in southern Iceland, we headed to Diamond Beach which is one of the most popular photo spots here. I wanted to try to get something unique here. But, the weather conditions basically put us in a place where any sort of photography was simply a blessing. We were just happy to get our lens on things.

I've learned a great lesson from this video: one cannot become a master photographer until you have taken an epic photo wearing shark slippers in the snow! I'm glad the storm cleared up to where you could go out and get some amazing photos of the icy beach!

Some of the best diamond beach images I've seen - your photography gets better and better dude. Iceland just seems to be about the cliche shots 90% of the time, but yours have been awesome this time around. The eider ducks were great too, photogenic birds. The females are so dark they are hard to photograph that well, kudos.

Thank you for posting, love the picture and the aspects of the adventure. Quick question, seeing where you all are shooting at Diamond Beach and trying to time shots, notice that you are having your hand on the camera when you do the shots, unless it is just due to worries of waves knocking over tripod, would it not be best to use a remote shutter release and thus less chance of loosing sharpness from any slight vibration of the hand on the camera?

I do it so I can shoot high speed images and get the right moment. A remote shutter is great, too. But my tripod is stable and my hand still, so it works. And it's the added benefit of being able to run away from waves with my camera. Haha

I am somewhat overwhelmed by a lot of photographer's youtube channels having multiple clips of Iceland. I feel like I have lived there by now. How about in-depth photography of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Munich or Berlin? Some spectacular SIMPLE landscapes.
