Wait for the video in a few weeks. An even more amazing sighting happened a few days ago.

Just wonderful. Time and patience pays off. I've been working with kingfishers locally this year and it's not easy. Yours look like juveniles to me with the darker feet and legs as well as shorter beaks. I hope they stay for you, at least one should and set up a territory. Keep up the good work, just a joy to see.

Some great images Darrell & hide is working very well. Keep an eye on the Himalayan Balsam around the hide, if not kept in check it will be everywhere & difficult to get rid of. Keep up the great work.

Hi Darrell, great video thanks for sharing, just a little info for you when you have still photos and the light isn't great eg, fog and mist the DEHAZE slider in Lightroom is your best friend, it's surprising how you can add a little life back into a washed-out photo.

I think your hide is great and I would love to have access to something like that. The kingfisher images are super, but the grey wagtail picture pretty near the end, I thought was superb. Looking forward to next week's....!

Hey Darrell, looks like you had a great time in the hide. Most neighbor's wouldn't like having something like that on their property around here... maybe one that looks more natural and blends in. It must be exciting to have the Kingfishers come in so close! Great video and still photos for sure! Great setup! Say'in hey... Greg

I am very lucky to have such a generous neighbour. I have just had a canvas printed for him of the Kingfisher on the mossy stick. It is still very exciting to have the bird land a few metres away.
@gregwilsonnaturephotography3 жыл бұрын
Hey Darrell, I am sure they will really enjoy the print. It always looks so fresh and green there. We have been in a multi year drought here and it feels and looks so dry. As always I look forward to your videos! Greg

Love the videos Darrell, amazing fieldcraft! Yep I'd second the comment that the 'male' kingfisher is a juvenile, potentially another female one as looks like her lower mandible is starting to change colour?
@DarrellOakdenPhotography2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Robin. The Kingfishers seem to have vanished again. I've been to the hide a few times this year and not seen them.

@@DarrellOakdenPhotography perhaps they're preparing a new nest or are incubating some eggs, mine fledged on saturday, best of luck with yours and i hope you get some more wonderful images

Just goes to show if ya put the time and effort into wildlife photography it pays off....... take note fellow photographers.
@DarrellOakdenPhotography3 жыл бұрын
You are quite right Mark. A ten minute video doesn't convey the preparation time and sitting around waiting. I am sat in the hide as I type this. I am working on another video and so far have logged about ten hours sat waiting.
