Loved this video. I live in Virginia USA. Our magpies are much smaller but there are lots of North American common crows which are more similar to your Magpie. Got some great photos but I am very jealeous of your camera setup. I only have a 300mm with the little D3300.

@@johndonnelly687 thanks for watching! I like the look of your magpies, they seem a lot more cheekier than the Aussie ones too. 300mm is a decent lens!

I don't usually see many Maggies down at Vicky Point, it's usually Butcherbirds, Mickies and Curlews over by the bus layover area. The only time I've ever been swooped by Maggies in the Redlands is near the Cleveland Showgrounds when I was a postie. Once I got used to it, it was actually pretty cool seeing them in formation with me in my mirror. I always made sure my visor was down though.

@@StevePorter_au magpiealert.com has some horror stories of people falling off bikes and what not. For this video I got swooped by the one at the Vicky Point jetty, just near the corner cafe. There’s also a VERY aggressive one at the Pinklands netball courts. Old mate waits on the powerlines and chases you haha Thanks for watching 👍

Its funny how the poor Magpie gets ignored for most of the year, then the media harp on about minor swooping incidents. I'm quite sure that the birds know me across several locations and although I have protected kids that were being swooped, I have not once been swooped by one anywhere. My black and white Cocker Spaniel copped a bit, but my black ones have not. They are a lovely and intelligent bird that I love to interact with. They are even smart enough to avoid conflict with Wattle Birds, unlike many others.
