A Wild Vision

A Wild Vision

Күн бұрын

Nature and wildlife photographer Rob Read ventures out into his local woodland to photograph the iconic Snowdrop. Photographing flowers artistically is more difficult that you might think, but Rob provides a few hints and tips on his approach and shares some of the results. Wildlife photography is so much more than pointing a camera at various subjects, and experimentation is key to developing as a photographer. Enjoy the video, then go out and photograph some Snowdrops of your own before they are over for another year.

Nice video, the problem with photographing snowdrops is that they often grow in very bad light conditions. I really like your results.

lovely Rob, especially like the last two shots at the end of the video, I had a similar setting recently and got some pics I was really happy with using the same macro lens

Thanks Peter. Funnily enough, the last two images were taken with the 200-500mm. It’s a surprisingly good lens for getting artistic shots of flowers.

@@awildvision2017 yes Rob I agree, funnily enough I have the same 3 lenses that you show in that video, only got the macro recently so have always used the 200-500 for stuff like this, so nice to have the option to switch between to get different shots

Great photos and beautiful light! I've tried macro on snowdrops, it can get uncomfortable working so low on the ground! A difficulty I had last year was getting enough depth of field for a single flower while getting the dreamy effect on its neighbours.

Thanks Anne. Yes, I always come back home covered in mud, and worse! Doing short sessions helps with neck and back strain. If you try photographing your subject plant from a little further away, then this can help increase the depth of field while retaining the dreamy OOF neighbours.

@@awildvision2017 Thanks! I'll have another go in the next couple of weeks. Last week I found a handy clump on a stone wall, which was much more comfortable
