I was in NZ ten years ago...when I was there I did not have the opportunity to experience this beautiful tree.. One more reason to return. Thank you so much for your beautiful and informative videos!

Thanks Jaime - the tree is certainly FAR more popular now than it would have been when you were there... maybe even TOO popular. But yes - always nice to have another reason to return. Hope to do the same myself!

This tree used to be a fence post , there used to be more of them plus the wire going out into the lake to stop stock from wandering. As a kid in the 50s we used to swim here in the summer.

Nice video. I have seen tons of pics of the Wanaka tree but I think this is the very first time I have seen a vlog or any video of this location so that was neat to see. Your last sunrise picture was great; looked like a unique take on a heavily shot location. The drone footage at the end was very nice as well.

Thanks Larry, that's very kind of you! I revisited this place recently and there must have been 50+ people - just crazy! It's nice because the weather and water levels are always changing, so it at least allows people to continue to try new compositions. Cheers!

Been to NZ about 2 weeks ago and have to say that the Wanaka tree is the BIGGEST TOURIST TRAP in New Zealand. Naturally I was not expecting much as its just a tree on a lake - but whether its in the water or 4m away from the waters edge like we saw it doesnt matter. ITS A WASTE OF TIME..............................

Great wee video but to a kiwi the pronunciation is phonetic ,you sound like you are sayin it in a way I would expect American Indian pronunciation Have a go at "won a ka " You percistancy is to be admired to get the best shot .Well done I think you nailed the pronunciation and the photo in the end

Sadly I butchered a lot of NZ names! In my defense, I've since returned, spent over half a year there, and correctly pronounced many of the names 😊😊😊. So I sort of made up for it. Sort of!

We tried to poison the tree in 1996. It's made of tough stuff. Chemicals have advanced now if anyone is thinking of doing it, it would be dead in a week. It won't be me as I'm never leaving London again. Remember if you are English we own New Zealand so do what you like and God save the Queen of England and New Zealand.
