Adam Gibbs hard water variety? Would not have thought that you would need it there.. i am in the Thames Valley and water is pretty crap, so I usually have Tetley. Yorkshire tea in Yorkshire is epic though!

I'm loving these West Coast VLOGs. I did a fair amount of visiting and hiking on the island about 15 years ago but its been a long time since then. It's really a magical place. I've lived on the prairies for the last decade and it gets difficult finding new landscapes to shoot. It might be time to make another trip out there. Now if only it wouldn't cost thousands of dollars in fuel!!!

You are a great storyteller. The addition of the motorized slider is another step in your storytelling journey. Since your last waterfall video though I wonder if you are three miles into the forest or only 3 meters ;-). Hi Adam, Greetings from Tasmania, Australia. Really enjoying your videos. One thing that strikes me is how similar your rainforest is there compared to ours - I guess they're both temperate. Also I was looking at Vancouver Island on Google Maps and was shocked to see that you have a very big logging issue over there, as do we here.

Yes very similar. And yes it is criminal to see old growth forest being cut down. We have very little left and our governments can never seem to see past the short term $ signs. Very sad but it seems to be a worldwide phenomenon. I am not opposed to logging but in Canada, we cut down our great forests and sell the raw logs to other countries, just criminal. All I can say is that I am very fortunate t be able to photograph some of the forests that are left before they're gone as well.

Another interesting location Adam. You navigate that drone through some very tight spots. You might have to consider getting a pack mule to carry all the gear that you use to make these great videos. One does wonder why some people feel it is their right to desecrate public and natural areas with graffiti and other destruction.

I love all of the images but I was especially intrigued by the mystery contained in the last "entrance" shot of the canyon. Have you thought about shopping the video and time-lapse shots to the local travel bureau? I think you could make a short film that would be great for the Vancouver Island tourism bureaus. I also wanted to thank you for the recommended link in the last video. The underwater whale photography was really moving.

I was just up there recently. The stream that goes up to that waterfall is so overgrown right now. I go up at least twice a year and I've never seen it like that lol. I wonder if it is due to less foot traffic than usual or what.. I was thinking of bringing my kukuri from the car to clear the edge up a bit. But decided 1.) it's not my place to decide that and 2.) it was getting dark and I really don't want to swing through bush with a kukuri in the dark. Especially with how busy the camping down on the beach was.. I love that place.

Thanks, Richard! I'm working on a drone video, hopefully, by next week it will be out. Colour grading is hit and miss with me as I just adjust the contrast and occasionally add a bit of saturation. Frame rate on all of the timelapse is 24fps

The cloning doesn't take very long, it is a shame though, that's people for you, always need to leave heir mark. The timelapse take about 15 -20 mins to shoot. Night shots or lower light would take much longer since the shutter speeds are slower. Thanks, Luke!

I suspected that you were using a slider from the previous video. The motion makes all the difference and your time lapses are wonderful. The only downfall is that they are time consuming for just a few seconds of footage. The canyon time lapse was really nice and I suspect that this beach with a better light it will be transformed.

I don't know it's not too tricky, you just have to make sure that you have a line of sight from either the rear or front of the drone and as you get near to an obstacle bring it in as close you feel comfortable doing. Must admit though that I have crashed a few times, haha. Thanks, Michael!

Thanks, Arwin House! I do use ND filters on the drone, especially important when you're filming moving subjects such as water. I do a bit of colour work on the footage but not too much. You'll love the drone, just start off using it conservatively until you get the hang of it. Did you get the Mavic Air?

Another great video. I am going to be on Vancouver Island in May and now I am worried about condensation on camera. What do you do to dry your camera out and make sure it stays in good working order?

Adam, that's quite the patina you have in that stainless (sic) mug you're using. I must say there is a striking evolution of these earlier videos and what you're producing now. Still great content back then. Guess you're not using that slider much?

What are your thoughts on rubber boots vs waterproof socks? My concern is that the rubber boots won't be as comfortable or offer the same support as hiking boots. I do, however, like the idea of rubber boots for wading into shin deep water instead of changing socks once I get somewhere that might require them. Of course socks are easier to carry than a second set of boots. Any experience, etc you can share?

For long hikes, I would go for hiking boots and perhaps waterproof socks if you felt a need for them. The Muck boots are very comfortable so you could probably hike in them quite a way, not a lot of support though.

Thanks for the reply. My basic issue is the ol 'getting a good angle' on a waterfall or stream. Right now, with my waterproof hiking boots I'm fine for a few inches, but to avoid water over the top I have to rock hop which is either unsafe/ill-advised or there are no rocks. It seems that it would be easier to just tromp straight into the water not worrying about the top of my hiking boots (not wading a river, just a few inches.) Another YTr I watch uses waterproof socks with sandals. (IE: he changes from hiking boots when needed.) which is why I asked to see if you've done that route as well.

The van is a 1995 Mitsubishi Delica L400, extended version. Love it, just wish they still made them and that we could import newer versions.
