Really enjoyed that, those shot are really good especially the ones closer to sunset. Bet it was an amazing experience!!
@DarrenKnightPhoto5 жыл бұрын
Hi Steven, I’ve been there a few times now and sunrise is best (IMO), but sunset was pretty cool also. It’s an incredible beach and I remember the 1st time I stepped onto it and saw the icebergs and black sand, I was just blown away. Simply a jaw dropping moment If you ever get the chance to visit, I’d highly recommend it Take care mate 🍺

Fabulous set of images and as I can attest it is very addictive once you start! Gun n Run is the way to go I reckon. Some really powerful shots, especially the ones with Helen.

Hi Alan, You’re right it’s very addictive as my shutter count will now confirm 😉 I’ve been having a lot of fun on my local beach recently, but I’m off to Snowdonia this weekend for my landscape fix. Have a good one mate 👍

@@DarrenKnightPhoto I saw somewhere that Mali is off... is there some kind of meet up then? I have pulled myself out of all groups atm so not really aware of owt?

Great work Darren. Iceland always delivers on such unique and beautiful landscapes or seascapes. Love that beach 👍🙌

Hi Adrian, Like you I’ve visited the beach before but I’ve never seen it with such large waves or with such strong winds. It really is a beautiful place and I think you’d agree, that every landscape photographer needs to visit at least once in their lifetime. Have a good weekend matey 🍺

Hi Simon, These few hours of shooting has really inspired me to try more of this type of photography. I’ve visited the beach 3 times in as many weeks and I’m having a lot of fun. Especially now I’m getting more confident with my settings. I hope you’re well mate and take it easy 🍺🍺

That brutal Iceland wind !. Seen a few cameras lost to those waves there. Incredible place and lovely colours in those waves. Great images and video

Hi ya Lee, We had a thoroughly good time on the beach, but forever fearful of leaving the tripod unattended. Shooting these waves has really inspired me to shoot more photos like this and so I’ve just returned from West Runton in Norfolk where I was shooting some surfers this morning. Thanks for taking the time to comment mate and have a great weekend 👍

Terrible joke Jamie 😂 I was back there this morning and photographing the surf was a lot of fun as it was a high spring tide Plus I went to Wex and picked up a new lens. Quite a productive and expensive morning 😉 Take it easy bud 🍺

Those images are really interesting Darren, amazing to witness the ice and the way the light made them shine 💪
@DarrenKnightPhoto5 жыл бұрын
Thanks JustDuff, but that beach is best shot at sunrise. Unfortunately the winds were even stronger the following day and so we decided to not to re-visit. I’m pleased you enjoyed it and Have a good one bud 👍

Stunning Images Darren, some of the best I have seen from any photographers in Iceland, my favourite is the first handheld image, but they are all fantastic, thanks for sharing. There's just something about the power of the waves and the way you have captured them with the light is brilliant.
@DarrenKnightPhoto5 жыл бұрын
Hi ya John And thank you for the kind and generous comment. This experience has really inspired me to shoot more images like this. I was on a beach in Norfolk this morning where the waves were fantastic but unfortunately the light was non existent. However, I did manage to photograph some surfers which was pretty cool. Take it easy mate and have a great weekend 👍

What a location fella, I think attempting some faster shutter speed shots like this really improves our photography, we are all so use to shooting slow on the tripod lol. Great job mate

It was a lot of fun Tom and I’m starting to do more and more of it. Over the past few weeks I’ve been playing around with settings and have now established my goto setting with the 70-200. Take care bud 👍

Really enjoyed this one mate, and I thought that the image at 4:29 was great. I can't believe how much damage the sand did to your polariser!!
@DarrenKnightPhoto4 жыл бұрын
Hi ya mate. No the sand didn’t do that, the wind blew the tripod over 😬 But I was trying to protect the lens from the elements. Looking back putting the polariser on was a wise thing to do....well kind of. I suppose the more sensible thing to do would be to hold on to the tripod 😂
@thompy1uk5 жыл бұрын
Which messenger bag are you using in the video Darren?
@DarrenKnightPhoto5 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, Is Messenger a brand? As the bag I was using is a “Think Tank” bag. It was on special offer at my local retailer. Cost about £70 I think, but I love it 👍
@thompy1uk5 жыл бұрын
Darren Knight Photo “messenger” is the name for an over the shoulder bag, it’s not a brand lol. It looks very good, I will have a look out for one, It looks like the Retrospective 7 bag..! Many Thanks

Well there you go Paul, I’ve learnt something today. I just call it my man bag 😉
@iainmc98595 жыл бұрын
You look like you had a lot of fun but were bone numbingly cold. I prefer the autobalanced shots, the 'warm' ones just don't scream Iceland (not saying that Iceland doesn't get golden sunsets). I reckon you set Helen up to get too close to those waves, just for the shot ;-)
@DarrenKnightPhoto5 жыл бұрын
Morning Iain, After filming the outro, I walked backed to the car with the tripod on my shoulder and without gloves on. By the time I reached the car I was in serious pain due to the cold. Not good. I agree with your comment regarding the white balance and I’m going to Re-process them from scratch. Unfortunately F4 wasn’t the right choice of aperture, but I’ve started practicing on the Norfolk coastline, so hopefully my surf photography will start to improve. Have a great Sunday mate 👍
