Best video about lighting ratios! How do I meter the background? Place the meter on the background with the lumisphere facing the background light? I guess the explanation about the black and white background made me a bit unsure here about how to meter the background.

Excellent Explanation. But I'm bit confused, when we say fill light is less powerful then key light, Key Light at F8, fill light 1 1/3 to 1 /2/3rd stops less which is F5.6 then won't it become brighter than key light....Please help me understand this part.

I have same confusion ..if I use speed-light flash system
@rickjbradbury4 жыл бұрын
The fill light at 1 1/3rd stops under F8 is F5 1 2/3rd stops would be F4.5 Any thing below F8 in terms of metered light out put is less light. F5.6 = 1 stop less F5 = 1 and 1/3rd less F4.5 = 1 and 2/3rd less. If you left all lights at F8 ( metered) and opened up to F5.6 your image would be 1 stop brighter.

May I have a basic question. Is the F-stop of light the same as F-stop in aperture of camera? So, Is it correct that the camera aperture is set to f8 when key light is metered at F8?
