VIDEO DESCRIPTION
You may have seen this whole #FramesFromAndalucia project floating around the photography-based KZbinr community in recent weeks. That's because I along with KZbin greats like ‪@grainydaysss‬ , ‪@graincheck‬ , ‪@therealsirrobin‬ , ‪@MikeChudley‬ & ‪@ThomasHeatonPhoto‬ among others were the lucky chosen few to go on a magical journey to Andalucía on behalf of the tourism board there.
This is the start of my contribution to the project.
By the way...this project was unreal. I mean I thought it was unreal. Literally. When they emailed me the proposal, I just deleted it. No way this kind of dream job could be falling in my lap. Then they emailed me again. They says to me the job is no scam. So I says to them I says "Yeah well I only want to shoot film." They said fine. So I said "...wait, what?"
Yeah. Turns out the project was real, but the trip itself...that was truly unreal. In the other sense, though. Like, it happened and everything, but damn dude it was so cool I can hardly believe it.
No chance any of you are still reading this...but hey I gotta put something in here. At any rate, here's the first video of several to come for this project. So stay tuned!
AND FOR THE HOCKEY FANATICS:
I know, the goalie pad rule was implemented before Hellebuyck & Bobrovsky even entered the league. But what can I say? My knowledge of 1995-2005 NHL goaltenders is lacking, so I used some modern players. I'm sure my inbox will be absolutely flooded with people calling me out for that.

Quick FYI about airport X-rays. Don’t leave film in your checked-in luggage - that will damage your film. And most security X-rays worldwide are okay… except for Southeast Asia. Plead, bribe, or do whatever you can to never have your film go through. (I’ve learned all of this the hard way.)

3:32 Rookie mistake Nick! Rookie mistake! ALWAYS pack at least ONE alibi roll at ISO 3200 with the rest of your film. It can be a dummy roll, it doesn't matter! But it allows you to argue for a hand check, since if they have to check that one alibi roll, they may as well hand check all of them! You're welcome!

Yes they are plenty busy with tourists from Germany and the UK in summer. But they’re specifically trying to bring awareness to people in North & South America and for tourists in the off season. Which is why we all went in December.

Wow, loved this. Listening to it with my headphones I could hear all the sounds and feel the ambiance. It really brought me back, I miss it alot. I lived in southern Spain for close to two years. Spent a lot of time in Malaga and all up and down Andalucia. Even went shopping in that Corte Ingles shopping center behind you while you were taking the Correos photo. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I'm subscribed to about half the participants in this series and have seen a bunch of their videos so far. This has been great.

I’ve reached that age myself where I just don’t want to carry huge, heavy camera gear with me, either, yet I always like to have a camera with me. I really did switch to a Leica M and a 35mm Summilux! I love the scene at the end. It reminds me a lot of the south part of San Francisco.

Really enjoyed this adventure. Looking forward to more. My favorite city image was the second. I like the wedge of shadow on the lower right buildings balanced by the wedge of shadow on the left more distance city. Seemed more dramatic.

I'm so happy that you are, or have had, the opportunity to start getting more of a feel for Europe, starting in a truly lovely place... I started shooting in Europe, seriously, about 25 years ago, when the air travel part was a bit less hassle, a LOT less hassle than today... One trip, we hit 17 cities in 20 days, 1600 exposures, mixed 6x7 and 35 mm... You can almost never take too much film along 🌞

I lived in Malaga for some years, and there is where i started in photography. Everywhere in the city you can feel that decadent beauty. The Correos building is a nice example. I saw some other photographer's video in this project and you have the best state of mind, disposition and way to approach the unexpected conditions for this kinf of job. Nick, I've watched a number of your videos and greatly enjoy your complete technical expertise and knowledge of your equipment and style along with your very quirky and somewhat awkward persona (and I mean that in a complimentary way). I've seen now half-a-dozen Andalucia-project videos from photographers I routinely subscribe to (Heaton for example) as well as videos from other photographers that KZbin has figured I would be interested in. Loving these videos . I sailed in to Málaga working on the cruise ships in 1986 , bought my Sunpak flash in the court ingles . Went back last year for a long weekend, stunning city.
