Thank you guys for putting some of this on-line and having Lindsay Adler as your instructor. If I've learned one thing in the 7 weeks I've been working on portraiture, it's that Lindsay is not only creative, but one of the single best educators around. In music, no wasted notes. In dance, now unnecessary steps or movements, in photography (my new hobby), Lindsay has no wasted breath or time - every word is important. I've listened on line to a lot of great photographers, but Lindsay has a singular focus on being an excellent educator/teacher - and has her lesson plan down. She is clear, concise, and her demonstrations are chock full of excellent video and examples of what doing a less preferable thing looks like compared to a more preferable thing. Lindsay, I'm sure you are way to busy to read this since you posted this video 3 years ago - but - when you brought your hand across your shoulder line in the way you did, it reminded me of movement from N.Y. Hustle dance that my instructor (former owner of a NY Studio) taught me and that made me smile. Again, thank you guys for having her and putting this on line, and if I were in New York, I'd be knocking at Lindsay's door dying to learn from her. Super helpful.

I am learning so much from this woman in a short space of time. Love how she explains things... they whys are more important than the what, because we can process that and use it more fluidly in on our own. Really appreciate the lessons.

Yea Lindsay is a New Yorker. She goes right to the point, and hates when big photographers give cryptic advice.

Depending on the client/model,showing the back of the hand(s) can be important when photographing senior citizens because they show so much character. They can compliment the face.

11:57 any ideas for what taking pictures of the groomsmen could do differently with their hands besides the hand in the pocket or the thumb hanging out or the fingers hanging out or the left over right ?? Please and thank you

Why would you put fingers near face? Because you saw another start up do so. What is the purpose of a model image? Been shooting agency models since 1966 and would never ever, ever do any of this for you want professional images and shoot for features.

By the time you get to where you approve of the first female subject's position she looked contrived and silly. If you are shooting people who are not particularly competitive the best bet is to hang out with them for a bit and find a look, a position, that they do naturally, ascertain which light best serves their features, and then utilize that info with a camera in hand after they have been styled.
