Owning both Quads, as well as the Pro-16B’s, the Pro-Q’s certainly have their place, and Photonis really does a Master Class on packaging and including accessories (L3 should take a lesson from them). That said, I live in very rural farming country where ambient light is sparse. In low light conditions like mine, there is zero question, the L3 WP’s absolutely crush the 4G Intens tubes in the Photonis. Hands down, zero argument. In urban or mixed lighting, the Pro-Q’s and 16Bs rock and definitely have an advantage over traditional tubes. I really wanted to love mine, but they’re not the best in environments like mine. I’m cautiously optimistic that the new Gen tubes Photonis is crooning about are half as good as they claim. L3 needs better competition. They own the market right now, sadly.

At that price, I'd still go with GPNVGs when I graduate. Photonis 4Gs are super nice, but unfilmed L3s are still unquestionably better.

In terms of lifetime, resistance to temp burns, and highlight performance, Photonis walks all over L3. Same for autogating and highlight clarity in situations like oncoming traffic, entry into bright rooms, etc. Photonis also sees out of band frequencies L3 cannot. “Unquestionably better” should never be thrown around when comparing tubes because each is better than others in certain situations.

@@ArkaynePhotonis is really good for mixed lighting environments, but I use my NVDs in the woods primarily. And that's where they suffer. While L3 and Elbit tubes will darken and still give a noisy but usable image, Photonis tubes will just go dark and give me nothing.

We invite you to our calibrated Night Vision demonstration lab in Lancaster, PA. Please bring your L3 or Elbit equipped NODS so you can compare them against our tubes to see if they "just go dark and give me nothing." If you're right, this demonstration should validate your observations - or you may find out out that Photonis Tubes cover FOMS from 1500 to above 2600, and Gains to the level of super-gain tubes from other manufacturers. Our intent is to make sure that generalized pronouncements are in fact apples to apples comparisons, that way everyone reading this will have enough information to make well informed decisions. @evey0259

Training... where? How? Few trainers offer night vision classes - those who do charge way too much. Nobody else is willing to eat the liability. That leaves you trying to do it yourself on public land - and east of the Mississippi that means bumping into mushroom hunters and bird watchers even outside of hunting season; so get ready to explain to cops or dnr how what you're doing is legal and not a threat. 🙄
@Arkayne Жыл бұрын
Training with nods is 90% just doing normal stuff and 10% shooting. Grab a mountain bike, go for a ride. Hike. Go on a jog. Walk your dog, etc. open and close doors. Do normal stuff.

I could never afford those for $40,000. I am good at ambushing though so I guess this just becomes a game of hunting the rich kids that never actually seen combat. 😂🤣

My gosh, if people really don't know the difference between using Quads vs binos, when shooting. I'll put it simply this way. With Quads, you'll see almost every target instantly like normal vision. With binos, you'll probably be dead because you missed that dude on the far left or far right that YOU COULD NOT SEE! Got it? Good.
@Arkayne Жыл бұрын
Quads don’t give you skill. You missed that part. Watch our latest video with them.
@Cipher73 Жыл бұрын
@Arkayne I agree. It was not really addressed to you. It's more for the general public. All Quads do is provide a better situational awareness, not shooting skills. But better situational awareness is better than less. In a complicated maze of rooms, a wide panoramic view will catch the corners that even experienced operators would miss. That's just reality.

@@Cipher73 Imagine if you had the $33,000 you saved instead of buying GPNVGs, you could have a lot of shit, including ammo and training
@Cipher7310 ай бұрын
@HenrikSherwood agreed. But I was just talking about the difference between the two devices. Had nothing to do with money. Quads provide a higher situational awareness. And it doesn't matter how much training you have, when you narrow your view, you're going to miss something. Period. There's vids on this very comparison between real experienced operators and non-operators. Using binos, they both missed a target. Using quads, they spotted them. That's reality. Too bad only rich people can afford Quads. Lol.
