Hi Colin.. the hair refine feature is the one I think I like most. Secondly I am glad to see a sky replacement feature in photoshop. I'm curious to see how it compares with the one in Luminar.

I've used a couple of the Neural filters, I see many of them as addressing Adobe's need to compete with other products that are out there that do these same things. For touching up some of these can be quite helpful. Thanks as always for the great video, and the time that you put into them, much appreciated.

Love the new features. I'm using the camera raw filter in photoshop 2021 to make changes to a photograph. When I click OK after editing the picture it brings me back to photoshop 2021. Question: When I go back to re-edit that same photo in raw, how do I edit my previous changes?

As soon as you said it was easier to cut out hair, I jumped out of my chair. Everything else will be gravy. Regarding the neural filters, I think they're great. I often have clients that want me to make tiny tweaks to the expressions of their models, and up until now (with liquify) that has been pretty rudimentary. Thanks for your updates (and congratulations on the 50k people signed up for your compositing class!)

I'd like to see you do a session on the architecture of the Photoshop application. I've been using it for years but with all the new features I feel like I may be missing an overall view of the products structure.

Oh, I'm going to have more fun than should be legal with those neural filters..... and I'm always looking for new ways to do sky replacements. This is gonna be so much fun!

Colin - Thanks for your review. You covered items I had not seen on other reviews. Question(s): Would the hair adjustment work on other fine detail, say the ends of bird feathers? With respect to the color gradients, is there a way to mask some of the impact, for example, to limit the change to only part of the highlights.

Fantastic new features ..... really look forward to a tutorial on sky replacements. I'm also hoping I'll be able to apply the cut out hair feature to cutting out fine flowers - now that would reduce my workload immeasurably!

Thanks for bringing all to us Colin, :) I would love to see an indepth tutorial of the path selection with a more busy background. The reset transformation is very useful for me, I used quite a bit of transformation tools when stiching hand made panoramas! Best wishes from Uruguay.

Hello again and thank you SO MUCH for this one! I can barely contain my excitement over 1. Sky replacements, 2. The neural filters (wow, just wow! Oh and by the way, you made me giggle at your angry man transformation, thank you so much for that much needed addition to what you were showing us. :)) 3. The new feature(s) in ACR. 4. The pattern related one...basically everything. In the 'MAX' briefing I watched after the keynote adress where we were given a few teasers about SOME of this, there were actually no fewer than 16 major additions mentioned relating to the desktop version of PS. Maybe we could work through all of them in future tutorials....please? I will of course be spending a LOT of time on my own figuring everything out too. So exciting! Thank you again.

Does it do deep pixels yet? For example, PNG allows up to 16 bits per pixel component, whereas EXR does 16-bit or 32-bit floating-point components. Photoshop has very limited support for 16 bits, and none at all for 32. By comparison, GIMP has comprehensive support for both. Has Photoshop caught up to GIMP yet?

Is it possible to use Raw or Tiff files with the sky replacement feature or only jpegs
@jamescampbell274 жыл бұрын
Color grading question. Once you color grade an image can you duplicate that grade on a different image. Also, can you select and assign different areas of an image and use that area for say a color in the shadow of one area to use on the entire image. Or can you color grade from a different image. This would be interesting in compositing. Great video BTW.

Yikes that sky replacement doesn't look like it works very well yet. Nice that they are adding this feature. Hopefully it gets better over time. The hair selection bit is the most exciting part!!! VERY happy to see this.
@joecolletti4 жыл бұрын
I agree on the sky replacement. Help with masking is always appreciated (yay hair!) but nailing the effect a new sky has on the surroundings is what really sells it. It's good that they thought to add the Foreground slider, but the results here were underwhelming. Maybe it's already better than it appeared, and a deeper dive would show that. Thanks for the preview, Ian!
@KevTCC4 жыл бұрын
@@joecolletti I have Luminar 4 and when it gets it right the effect is stellar but sometimes it just looks terrible like this example. You are right that having the sky affect the rest of the scene is what makes it feel real. The PS example here had poor masking and the rest of the scene was not relit by the new sky. Who knows though it may come in handy for other things.

My Photoshop CC 2021 is running the 3D animations very slowly Can you advise on any setting in Preferences that may speed things up? I have an iMac running OS Catalina. 24 Gb memory, 3.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2 GB.
@photoshopcafe3 жыл бұрын
Check out last weeks livestream where I go in depth into preferences. The weakest link in your system is the GPU, but it should still be good enough, although 3D is much more grueling on your system and Photoshop's 3D performance isn't that great

I feel like a fossil, using photoshop from the dawn of its existence :D Learned so many skills to make the "perfect" masks and various other techniques. But which each update these days more and more "skill" is being replaced by AI. The positive side about being familiar with all the old school skills is that you understand better why things go the way they go. And you have more specific control over what you're trying to achieve. And, to be fair, nothing wrong with AI when it can save you a ton of times.
@robertfousch27034 жыл бұрын
its the same thing when you consider cameras moving from manual to autofocus or going from a darkroom enlarger with manual dodge and burn to a digital editing platform. I agree its good to know the "why", but eventually methods will change and old techniques will die off. Buggy whips vs. car keys.....

I've known and used Photoshop for years, since the mid '90s, in fact, way back to Version 2.0. I witnessed the introduction of Layers in version 3.0 and no one wanted to touch it with a 10-foot pole! It's true that the latest versions have resulted in more "smart" and "automation" thrown into the mix. Which is a good thing, in a way, since it allows concentrating on creating but it is disconcerting to have to slowly give up all these skills developed over the years to achieve the same effects to embrace the new "techniques". It's like "relearning to walk". Whereas for new users, it may help getting to speed faster?

Great video! Can't wait to get this update. Any news when Adobe will release this version somewhere in 2021? Seems to me that Adobe is trying to make Artificial Intelligence within photoshop a more common thing for its customers. Programs, such as Luminar 4, that uses AI is becoming more and more popular these days. Good to see that Adobe is catching up in this. I'm not often satisfied with the results using AI but in some situations, it can be a timesaver. Greetings from Amsterdam, The Netherlands!
