Thank you for this, I couldn't figure out how to constrain the resize anymore....I was like, do I need to hold some other button down with shift.

My constrained proportions by default is not working though... :( Do you know what could be the problem? I've got the CC 2020 version, 21.1.3 release.

I'm having that same issue. Have you found a fix?

@@crysspires4191 I was just having the same problem. Solution: When transforming, there is a little chain icon between the W (width) and H (height) boxes up top that allows you to maintain aspect ratio. Don't know how I unclicked it, but that's what you use to fix it.

@@JustinFosterJustinchi So, I gave that a try and it works but for only that particular object. That seems like it is a one time for the one object. Did you find any other solutions?

Hi Miriam, is it when you try to resize a photo layer, using the Move tool, with Transform Controls selected on the Options panel? It should keep the same aspect ratio by default but require Shift to change to a new aspect ratio, if it's the recent versions of Photoshop.

I would LOVE if they quit changing all the shortcuts we are used to! Although this one might actually make more sense!

I know, right? Less "tinkering" with more consistency would be great, while added features and performance improvement would be great.

So they finally did what it should have always been which was to constrain proportions by default. Now if you want to distort then you press and hold shift. Got it!

Is there a way to make "Maintain aspect ratio" the default in older versions? Like CS6? (That's what I'm using)

i think the ability to lock is now removed omg its so annoying

Yeah i'm using 2022 and can't figure out how to lock/constrain the aspect ratio without holding shift. I guess i'll just hold shift. But dang. So annoying.
