Thank you for another interesting, creative ,and especially useful tutorial. I've enjoyed and used several of your painting tutorials. I'm wondering if you've created any tutorials describing how to create a tempera painting effect from a photo in photoshop and if not are you planning such an exercise in the future? Do you have any suggestions re: how one might get started in creating such an effect.

I haven't yet. Tempera is very specific. I receive numerous requests every week for tutorials and I do appreciate them all. I may eventually do some of them, but I can't promise I'll do any of them. I trust you understand.

What a great tutorial Marty! Thank you. I have a small request, You have a very , very old tutorial that I kept in my favourite folders, about making glitter glass (or glass glitter?) letters. As Adobe changed so much, just by chance do you have a newer tutorial of such thing? I thank you again, and send my best from Uruguay.

My response to the gentleman here who said he ..."doesn't see the point of... pretty lame." The point is not to pretend something is a painting - that I think is what you are and have missed. It is to ENABLE us to create an "effect" that WE wish to create for WHATEVER purposes we have in mind. For instance, when we use Photoshop to adjust something in the myriad ways we know we can no one is accusing anyone of being phony or foolish for making an image up or making an actual image better by using these tools. The Goal - in my opinion - is to have the freedom, the tools to make what I wish to see in my imagination reality. What we have been given here is just one more creative tool. How I or anyone uses it, incorporates it into our work? Well, that's our perogative and should not be subject to any pejorative, denigrating aspersions as someone here made.

@@BLTV_Photoshop Thank you and thank you also for taking the time to share with us the "secrets" you did. I actually posted that comment under his comment but then deleted it because I felt it might get lost there and thought it was an important point to make. That it was necessary for someone, who might be new Photoshop and miracles of image editing these days to realize that was a very short-sighted opinion on his part. Not that he was trying to be unkind; it simply was his quick take on it - that I felt needed to be extrapolated upon to bring it more into harmony with reality.

While I'm at it, I've been looking for tutorials on how to reproduce the style of old ads from different eras (art deco, 50s...). Surprisingly, apart for a couple of videos from Spoon Graphics, there aren't really any tutorials about that on KZbin. At least not on Photoshop. Maybe some ideas for you to explore?

Very good! But there is a problem with this oil paint method and that is the loss of details! The details of the photo are almost gone.
@BLTV_Photoshop
@BLTV_Photoshop Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. The style of oil painting shown in this video does indeed sacrifice detail, however, if you want to restore back some detail, at 1:57, make a copy of your subject. After you create the final oil painting, convert all the layers that comprise it into a Smart Object. Don't include the copy of your original subject to the smart object. Add a layer mask next to the smart object and paint black over the oil painting in areas you want to restore. This will reveal the original subject through the layer mask.

I don't see the point of doing it. what is the goal to print and hang it pretending it is an oil painting. pretty lame

Thank you for your comment. Photoshop doesn't aspire to replace "art". At the end of the day, it's just a tool that allows people to have fun creating digital, visual effects including recreating the look of an artistic medium. As for me, I was trained as a fine artist, graphic designer, and illustrator at two art colleges way before the digital age. I studied life drawing, painting, and worked in many other mediums including etching, wood engraving and sculpture.
