This piece is absolutely gorgeous. I love the shading, the scenery, I can't compare my art to something like this ;o; I'm aching to learn how to do shading like that, and also better textures! Wonderful drawing, and a really pretty song.

I'm a giant ungulant and cervine fan myself.....beautiful creatures. Very underated in the animal community, too, because everyone is too busy drawing cats and dogs. But a Kaylink speedpaint!!!! I love watching you work, oh man, college must be busy for you. How are you?

@SenseiOfPower Well, obviously. Like I said in the description, I'm an animation major. My future literally depends on me putting out hundreds of drawings a week. All that means is that the energy I use for art is normally sapped up by my homework, not that I've stopped.

How manage to keep inspired to illustrate such stunning pieces after hours of working in school is beyond me but...my goodness it's just amazing what you can do with a pen and a few hours of time. This is so incredibly inspirational, from when you started sketching to when you were simply coloring lines; everything just added had its own touch of beauty to the piece. Excellent, excellent work-maybe one of my favorite pieces from you! by the way, i'm just curious: why such thin lineart? :o
@roughly2feet12 жыл бұрын
These creatures have such an interesting body... love the anatomy in these guys. C: Anywho, I was curious how you got your lines to look so smooth/less pixal-y -- especially with a small brush on a huge drawing. I'm in a few art classes at my school and I've finally gotten used to a tablet, but I can never seem to make the lines look as clean as I want them to. :/

Lol, there's a lot of comments like this, but anyway, I found this amazing, not many people draw Ungulants, but Gemsbok are really cool Creatures, and it was really cool to find one of my favourite Artist's drawing one, at first I wasa bit confused with sketching in Black, but then I realised, ,LOWER THE OPACITY XD lol, real idiot here. It was also kinda strange 'cause you did thin lineart when you normally do it a little bit thicker, but it just made this seem all the more awesome! Lol.

@smokingtofu Thank you :> I agree, they are fantastic animals. Been good, just busy. Animation is a very production-intense major so by the time I'm done with homework I'm normally too beat to do anything but sleep. But I'm eager to keep going too :>

@LeslyeRowyn Thank ya. Hmm... I really like larger mustelids (badgers, wolverines, fishers), small wildcats like Pampas Cat, Andean Mountain Cat, Rusty Spotted Cat, the more obscure breeds of fox. And donkeys/mules because they're badass... no pun intended.
@Kaytothelink14 жыл бұрын
@proxyshark Thank you very much; I actually did this one on a day off so that would explain how I kept focused haha :p But thank you. I was going for a smoother, more painterly look so I didn't want big fat lines isolating the gemsbok. Wouldn't fit in with the background as well.

You may be thinking of her referencing a character. Like if she is drawing someone else's character she would pull up a picture of them to get the character right, as in markings and colors, not necessarily referencing the anatomy, that she uses real photos for.

When you use a 1 pixel brush to ink and you have thicker sketch lines, how exactly do you follow the sketch? (like, do you ink the center of the sketch lines, or more towards the edges?) When I attempt 1 pixel line art my overall picture always ends up looking wonky because my inking lines are inconsistent with the thicker sketch below. If that makes any sense at all. I've been struggling with this for awhile, so I tend to sketch and ink with roughly the same size brush.
@LyncasterArt12 жыл бұрын
You sure you're not mistaking the times when she uses a character ref sheet to get the colors, markings, etc. correct on whatever character she's drawing? I've seen her do that in many a video, but it's far from referencing poses. XD That's just making sure colors and markings are proper, not poses or anything else. :P

@TakuraLioness Referencing from a real animal and referencing from a drawing of one are not the same thing.
