I really struggle with getting motivated to do my own digital painting because I am such a perfectionist, thank you for making an actual tutorial so I can practice digital art without being disappointed in my own creative creation ability

Thanks Kiara, keep up the painting & be less critical of yourself (and other) is key to life. You'll see many comments on this very video that say 'your apple looks like crap', 'you suck' etc. You just have to ignore the folks who think they are (or even may be) much better than you and start experimenting and learning! You'll keep getting better and better, they'll keep commenting on how they are superior. Just always remember: which of those two things actually matter? This turned into a bit of a rant eh?! :)

While I did learn some things from this video, I’m confused why you kept the swatch layer visible when you were mostly using the eye dropper tool from the reference image? That was a really interesting idea to use the swatch you made, but you didn’t seem to use it a whole lot.

Your apple looks rotten. Don't ever color pick from the image itself. If you used your eyes instead, you might have noticed that the actual apple has much more red on upper left side.

How did you erase the soft edges? One time you selected the eraser tool then the rest of the time your mixer brush was selected while erasing. Im confuseddd

Most likely he's using a tablet of some sort. I have a Wacom tablet and compared to a mouse they make a heck of a difference.
