I've subscribed, I found you video easy to follow and effective in accomplishing what I wanted to do. One of the reasons you may not be getting subscriber is the fact that you have to get a gmail email and many of us didn't know that until we researched why we couldn't subscribe.

Do you have any tutorials on making realistic waves or wakes in water? I'm attempting to make the water looked disrupted by a paddle boarder but can't get anything to look realistic
@BLTV_Photoshop Жыл бұрын
Sorry, no wakes in water. If you're using the new Beta version of PS, try contextual fill.

Great video, by far the best I have found on this subject. I'm trying to use it on a water surface with the reflections of stars. When I do it, I find the stars in the displacement area are repeated multiple times, when what I want is to have the correct number of stars, but the stars displaced according to the displacement map. If you will google up "Rippled Surface" by M.C. Escher, that's close to the effect I'm trying to achieve, only instead of tree branches I have the reflections of stars. The image I'm working on is in standard aspect ratio 4x6 portrait mode, so it's different from the image you are using here. Can you advise me if I need to use different settings on some of the steps because the orientation is different? As in your image, the delineation between the pond in the foreground and the sky in the background is about in the middle of the image.
@BLTV_Photoshop5 ай бұрын
Because the stars are so small, they need to be on a separate layer. Displace your image without the stars and then add them back into the reflection.
@Pithecanthropus24835 ай бұрын
@@BLTV_Photoshop Hmmm, that does make sense. But wouldn't that mean that the stars won't be displaced? As you said the stars are small, but there are a lot of them, since I simply flipped the sky component. Naturally we wouldn't see that many star reflections IRL, but it's not intended to be entirely realistic. If you could really see that many star reflections on the surface of a pond, and I tossed in a pebble, I think you'd be able to see the circular ripples defined by the star displacements. Maybe if I combine the stars and a grid pattern, displace then together, and then delete the grid layer that would work. I'll come back and update this with my results.

what about for vertical photos , im trying to do ripple effect of a mirror , can I get some help please
@BLTV_Photoshop Жыл бұрын
The steps are the same for vertical photos.
Жыл бұрын
I did, but after applying the "distort / displace" filter, the photo has tears in it, is there a way to prevent these tears?
@BLTV_Photoshop Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what you mean by "tears". The photo does warp based on the luminosity of tones of the displacement map. Blurring the displacement map softens the distortion.
Жыл бұрын
@@BLTV_Photoshop yes, I used the wrong word, actually I meant this, after applying the "Distort / Displace" filter, a transparent deformation occurred in the photo, As you said yes, when you increase the Gaussian Blur, the deformation disappears, but the rippled decreases. thank you..
