Thank you so much for your tutorials. I have struggled with the crop tool for years. I made it harder than it was. You have unlocked the secrets (at least in my mind) of the crop in photoshop. I really appreciate what you do to educate.

Thank you very much for your tutorial, which is thorough and insightful as always. I'm much indebted to your work. I have a request: I'm going to crop 900+ photos of the lunar eclipse to the same dimensions with the moon at the centre so that I can turn them into a time-lapse video. Is there any effective and efficient way to do it? I shall greatly appreciate your help.

I wish LR and PS had a feature which if when zoomed into a photo, say a 100% and you find a composition you really liked, you could choose to auto crop it from the zoom- as opposed to having to exit the zoom, enter crop and try and replicate the original composition. Put simply, it would be great to be able to create a crop when zoomed in to a photo. Maybe there is a way to do this, if so I’d appreciate a tutorial. I really enjoy your short and to the point videos. Thank you

LOL, I've come across that before, usually I take a screen capture and then use it as an overlay guide for the crop

Thank you excellent. Is there any way to set a preference for “delete cropped pixels “ to be unchecked by default ? Presently the default is that it is ticked .
@photoshopcafe3 жыл бұрын
It's sticky. If you turn it off, it should stay off

@ZoranImsiragic3 жыл бұрын
Great! I didn't know that pressing "O" I can change overlay modes. You didn't show that is possible to make partial setting in W x H x R regime. It is possible just to enter width and crop will have fixed width. Or you can put W and H and if you don't set the resolution, resolution will stay the same but the size will be changed.

One thing I struggle with the crop tool is switching from fixed crop ratios to fully flexible cropping. How DO you do that n the new Photoshop?
@Ruffian_Xion3 жыл бұрын
Click the 'Clear' button to the right of the ratio input boxes.

Good information, thanks Colin! One thing I see a lot is people say they did a "100% crop" on a photo. To my understanding, that means that it was cropped without resizing it. Am I correct in that assumption? Or am I missing something?
@ewallperschwaznyk41693 жыл бұрын
To me, a 100% crop would yield a 0 X 0 image.
@JoeHTX3 жыл бұрын
@@ewallperschwaznyk4169 Well that's one way of looking at it. I've googled it and read a lot of discussions and arguments and nobody seems to have any one answer or viewpoint on it. I've always thought the same thing because that is what logic would dictate. But, when people post an actual photo that's not blank and they say they did a "100% crop", they obviously are applying a different meaning to it than 0 X 0 image. I've also read some that claim they did a "50% crop" and that lead to a ton of different versions and scenarios about that too.

Thanx for another useful tip. One question: if i crop for example to 3:4 ratio i am always struggling to hold it in the middle. If youmove your mouse a tiny bit you already go out of bounds and see left or right open spaces and have to use the arrow keys to get it fixed. Is there a simple technique to it.
@photoshopcafe3 жыл бұрын
Try holding down alt/option. Or use classic mode if that doesn’t work
@arlcrane3 жыл бұрын
I believe one solution to your question is to Snap to the Document Bounds: Turn on : View > Snap and View>Snap To > Document Bounds . The crop box will snap to the edge of the document when you get close.

@theisotisback3 жыл бұрын
Instead of cropping (I'm already aware of this feature of the cropping tool), I prefer to open a new document in the size I need to crop and put the photo that way. Not that it's easy, I'm just used to the other way.
@photoshopcafe3 жыл бұрын
The danger of doing it that way is having a different color space and shifting your colors
