I took a graphic design course in HS and got the chance to work with photoshop, and tbh it is way easier than it looks! I don't remember much of it, but I do recall making high use of masking layers, color editing, bevels, obviously layers, and the copy-paste brush tool (I think that one was my favorite). That is not to say that this doesn't take skill! It take a shit ton of patience and can really be time consuming. not to mention that you can get lost in the realm of "looking for the perfect reference/texture picture.

I’m a color theory enthusiast, and here’s my tip when shading/highlighting. Using black to shade or white to highlight sucks the life out of drawings. So let’s say you’re drawing something green, the highlights should be a more yellowish green and the shading should be bluish green. Shading should always be a cool color, although highlights can be cool as well depending on lighting. In conclusion, please don’t use a darker/lighter shade of whatever color you’re using as shading/highlighting. (This isn’t meant to be directly to anyone, it’s only a tip for those who’d like to use it.)
