Mam what is photo-oxidation ?

Simply put, it is oxidation of a molecule because of light energy. When chlorophyll undergoes photo oxidation at high light intensities and prolonged exposure to harsh sunlight its structure and function can be altered. The surrounding accessory pigments absorb the excess light and accompanying heat and reduce or prevent the damage to chlorophyll.

Yes. Carotenoids are pigments of two major types - carotenes and xanthophylls. So carotenes are a type of carotenoids.

When a molecule accepts and electron it gets reduced. The molecule that lost the electron gets oxidised. NADPH - Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide phosphate. H indicates that it's reduced.
