🎉🎉🎉🎉 incredible teaching. This is the easiest explanation of this on photosynthesis on the internet. Thanks Craig

Thanks a million. Incredible videos and explanation on the topic of Photosynthesis. If you have time to watch only one video, then this is it. Please watch all the videos of this uploader on this topic. Highly recommended. The only warning is that your grades might go up very high, above the average. If you are o.k with that, then no problem !

No. During the second electron transport chain in the non-cyclic pathway there is not ATP generated. The Electron is still high energy when it is picked up to make NADPH. That high energy electron becomes a high energy bond in glucose.

Proton coupling with NADP+ is not coming from the lumen as stated here, but from the stroma. The whole point of the light dependent reactions is to build up a proton gradient, which would be diminished by this reaction, rendering the process ineffective

Fantastic video, thank you. I also have a question, with the cyclic pathway you said an electron excited from P700 goes through the ETC and sent back to P700. However in the non-cyclic, it looks like the same electron is actually sent to NADP+ (to form NADPH) would you mind clarifying-- are these separate? Thanks for your help

So water is only used in the non-cyclic right? And thanks a lot. I have A level biology tomorrow and this is the first time I'm actually understanding this!
@Wardog1111110 жыл бұрын
Correct, and oxygen is only produced in non-cyclic as well.

I was thought that P680 and P700 receive 4 photons of light at the same time and how ATP was made without the build up of hydrogen ion which come from the 2 water molecules. Isn't the water molecules split with the aid of a specialized enzyme and P680 force of attraction.

Ah just to add that NAPH+ is combined with H+ ion and the electron, to form NADPH via NADP+ reductase.

is atp generated in second electron tranport chain?
@hochi-hz5th4 жыл бұрын
just in case you're still wondering, no it doesn't, it only generates at the first chain

@firephoenix81928 жыл бұрын
is P700 involved in both reactions at the same time.......if it's not then how is it going to maintain it's electron as the charged electron is utilized in the formation of NADPH and the uncharged electron is no where to be found.......then how can we say that P700 is cyclic........

Is ATP released in the second electron transport chain?
@MichaelHarrisIreland10 жыл бұрын
Which path might have evolved first can anyone guess. The cyclic one seems simplist.

Why does the high energy electron stay charged after the second ETC? After photo system 1?
@tomwarner158911 жыл бұрын
Because no ATP is made in the second ETC.

P680 is photosystem 2 and p700 is photosystem 1. p700 was discovered before p680 hence the name even though in the reactions p680 is the first photosystem.
